Gotta say that this is much more preferable to Susan Rice. Kerry will be confirmed easily with Senate collegiality.

-----

Aside from all that, it would set up an interesting special election in Mass. if, as expected, Scott Brown runs for the seat and the challenger can't ride the Obama/general-ticket coattails.

I'm not entirely sure whether Brown's ~2 years would count in that... but, yes, I'm under the impression that the Sr./Jr. designation goes by consecutive time spent in office, not by non-consecutive. As it stands, that terminology is only important to newspaper reporters to have another non-proper-noun when referring to the two.

That's not always true. Here in New York Gillibrand does nothing that Schumer does not clear first.

Its well known, but (of course) we re-elected her easily anyway..................lol

On the subject of SoS comes the news today that Hillary Clinton fainted, hit her head and suffered a concussion last week.

I'm certainly not her biggest fan, but I wish a speedy recovery.

Scary thing to see someone faint out of the blue. Happened in college ~10 years ago when a girl was standing at the printer not far from me and she suddenly just went totally limp and flopped like a sack of potatoes. Came to and fainted again. Called 911, medics came... She was really classically pretty too... but from what I suspect as I was trying to keep her talking, she hadn't eaten and was likely borderline anorexic.

Well at least we know he'll be for diplomatic solutions before he's against them.

Does the State Department pass out medals for anything?

If they do, he'll be awarded three of each; regardless of whether or not he earned it.

I read something earlier this week that she had to cancel a trip due to some virus or something. Then this. Kind of got me wondering if maybe she's having health problems

Then the cynic in me remembered that she was supposed to testify about Bengazi this week. Convienient timing

Even scarier to be the one who fainted. When I was like 14 I fainted in my kitchen. I remember I was feeling woozy and had my back to the refrigerator when I was talking to my Mom. Next thing I know I was on my back with both parents hovering over me and a seriously bloody lip. My Mom said when people faint in movies they go down gently, not me. I fell forward like a ton of bricks.

When I was in HS (15 or 16) my school had an all night "walk-a-thon" and they had a helium tank for the balloons. We were huffing on it to talk with a helium voice. I pulled a couple of deep breaths when we saw some people and started running over to them. Mid-stride I fainted and landed face first on a gravel track. The cop who just saw me take a face-plant comes over to me, lying awkardly in the middle of the track with my face thrashed and asks if I'm okay. As I was coming to, I was semi-conscious, had no recollection of what had happened, thought I was in the grass, opened my eyes and said "yeah, I'm just lying down." God knows what he must have thought.

They are saying that the virus likely caused dehydration, which caused the faint, which caused the concussion.

That thought crossed my mind too, but I don't think even a Clinton would try that as an excuse. I mean... if they were really looking for an out, they would probably just have someone killed.

Happened to my sister too. She got home from work at around midnight, went to the fridge for a bite to eat and fainted. Ended up breaking her nose pretty bad. :(
