1B4IDie Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 Why do we think there is a cap problem. I thought Ralph and Jay were cheap.
NoSaint Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 Why do we think there is a cap problem. I thought Ralph and Jay were cheap. The team spends a penny and were poor. Didn't you know it's fact that we have exactly enough to sign our free agents but not a penny more or less... Despite no knowledge of what our cap number looks like in the discussion and widely varying guesses at what our guys will cost, and few understanding the varying structures of contract we could offer. If you want to sign anyone you better cut someone, and we can afford our own. That's the talking point, please stick to it.
Pirate Angel Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 Kelsay, Spencer Johnson, Brad Smith all will free up some cap
marauderswr80 Posted December 16, 2012 Author Posted December 16, 2012 well, lets not get carried away (unless i missed pujols giving up a significant portion of his $254 million). most of what i have seen from him has been structure related. which is a totally different talk. Key word in this entire post is restructure....
JM57 Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Kelsay, Spencer Johnson, Brad Smith all will free up some cap About 13 mil i believe

thebandit27 Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 I don't think it's necessary for Mario to restructure. If the team did need cap room, you're more likely to see a guy like Kelsay restructure (he's in the later years of his deal, so a simple re-working will save more $$) or possibly be released. Same goes for Barnett and George Wilson. Also remember that salaries like Merriman, Spencer Johnson, McGee (thank God...worst contract decision ever), and Kirk Morrison come off the books as well. They should have plenty of room to re-sign Byrd and Levitre & at least 1 of Urbik & Rinehardt. Donald Jones is restricted, so at worst he's back on a 1-year RFA tender. I'd expect free agency to consist of 1 significant signing (likely a WR) and perhaps a few level 2 players (an OLB and a CB would be nice).
