boyst Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 http://news.yahoo.com/brilliant-geminid-meteor-shower-peaks-tonight-122200382.html Anyone going out tonight? See anything good? I already went out about 10 mintues and got 11. Some pretty good ones, including a rapid fire 3 shot. I will be going back out in about 20 minutes for bed. It helps living in the country - the owls, foxes, dogs, and coyotes are talking to me.
Just Jack Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 I'm gonna try when I leave work in about an hour.
Just Jack Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 I saw two while driving on the way home. At home though, none. I wasn't sure exactly which direction to look so I just kept swiveling my head around, but eventually the cold won out and I headed in.
Pete Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 great show going on right now! New moon, clear skies here in CT, and they were forecasting 100-130 meteors an hour, and that seems to be accurate. I saw a few good flurries-4 or 5 simultaneous. And there were a few that left a trail
Chef Jim Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Thanks for the heads up. I was only out for a short while seeing it was cold and I didn't have a jacket on but did catch one very large and bright with a long trail.
dhg Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 I saw one a couple nights ago. It was pretty spectacular.
