JohnC
This is the thinking that got us JP Losman. I want a new QB as much as the next guy, but getting desperate and taking a marginal QB in round 1 puts us in the same spot we are now 3 years from now. The problem with picking Losman was not that the team was desperate for a qb but that it simply wasn't a good pick. The Bills missed on the Losman pick. Big deal---it happens. We missed on the Whitner, Maybin, Mike Williams, McGahee etc. first round picks. Missing on picks has little to do with the position the player plays as it does with the caliber of the scouting of the organization. Other teams have thrived on the qbs that this organization has passed on. There may not be an apparent elite qb prospect in this draft but certainly there are enough quality prospects that can become a good franchise qb for us. Common sense indicates that using a higher draft pick rather than a lower one will more likely result in a better prospect. Until that issue is resolved this franchise is going to continue to lose. K-9
The prospect determines where he's selected. Where he's selected never determines the prospect. JeMarcus Russell wouldn't have been any worse if he were the last pick selected and Matt Schaub wouldn't be better if he were selected 1st overall. The odds of ANY QB we draft in April immediately improving the team are minimal at best. That's not saying we shouldn't take one and I really think Nix will. But it's best to temper our enthusiasm just because it's not Fitz calling the signals. Luck and RG3 aren't the rule that proves the exception. GO BILLS!!!
