Wages keep going further down for working class people

Either that, or I've studied economic history extensively, and know exactly what I'm talking about.

Hey, there's only person at PPP who's allowed to use the "i'm smart and know what I'm talking about" defense, and it's not you (or me).....

No, I'm saying that the amount the Fed gets when it unwinds the assets has no impact on the Fed's operations or taxpayers. The Fed doesn't mark2market and it's not a profit-making corporation.

Btw, the fiscal mess started in 1981 with supply-side economics...

Makes a man yearn for the days of Jimmy Carter when interest rates were low, unemployment low and little inflation. All we needed to do was wear an extra sweater and the world be a happier place.

It's not my default setting; it's just a time saver. For instance, were you and I having that particular discussion, I'd have gone into depth explaining my positions. However, in dealing with posters who offer nothing of substance (or even coherance) I tend to be more dismissive.

Many libs did NOT support Rahm... He is a bully. IMO, I do not even think he was eligible to be mayor w/the whole residency sham...

See... That is the thing about us libs... We are NOT afraid to go up against our own factions... Not like the lock step conservatives that eventually kill themselves... Which you see is happening after the last general election.

Sorry, must be the American mut in me...

"He Man Gov't Hater" charter member: 3rdnlng, what say ye?

You are gonna follow me around like a lost puppy dog anyway... :-P

Go back inside your toll booth, the diesel fumes are getting to you a little more than normal today.

You don't know how it will unwind the positions and if it will have any effect on the capital markets if it tries to dump the assets back to the banks. You sound just like the sages in the early '90s who said that Fannie/Freddie were perfectly well capitalized.

Btw, the fiscal mess started in 1981 with supply-side economics...

Of course. It had nothing to do with American industry's complacency to globalization.

Obama's Big Michigan Right-To-Work Lie: Lower Wages

The president says right-to-work laws mean "the right to work for less money." So how does he explain the fact that incomes are up in RTW states while forced unionism is a proven job killer?

Campaigning Monday in Michigan as it stood poised to become the nation's 24th right-to-work state, President Obama spoke the exact opposite of the truth to union workers at a Daimler Detroit Diesel plant in the birthplace of organized labor.

"What we shouldn't be doing," he told the small crowd, "is trying to take away your rights to bargain for better wages. We don't want a race to the bottom. We want a race to the top."

Yet looking at the hard numbers, becoming a right-to-work state is a direct line to the top.

According to Michigan's Mackinac Center, using data taken from the Bureau of Economic Analysis and Bureau of Labor Statistics, private-sector, inflation-adjusted employee compensation in right-to-work states increased by 12% between 2001 and 2011 compared with just 3% over the same period in forced-unionization states.

These good wages came from good jobs. Employment in right-to-work states expanded 2.4% over the same stretch vs. a 3.4% decline in non-right-to-work states. Ironically, Obama is taking credit for jobs created in RTW states.

Unions are the very definition of "race to the bottom."

You don't know what the hell you are talking about. I see you have been sticking your head in a hole in the ground and whistling out your ass. Doc, you gotta make a note to yourself not to do that! Please...

Compare say a non-union local Walmart employee to Jewel/Osco (supermarket/Rx in the ChicagoLan area)... I don't know any employees that can live on Walmart wages let alone 30 to 40 years working like they do for the union store, Jewel. It is a flat out fact that union folks work better and live better. I don't mind paying the 10-20 dollars extra on my weekly grocery bill so somebody can have a steady, well paying job w/benefits. To me that is "living better" and NOT race to the bottom.

Ain't that the truth... I am not an a**hole. Speaking of old times, you are giving guys like Rich in Ohio a run for their money... What were you, conjoined twins? In 2008 they separated the ass from the brain... Keeping the ass.

You don't comprehend the written word very well, do you? I inferred that you were not the !@#$ he was referring to. That, in itself means I called you an !@#$.

Oh, the irony!

Unions had their place once upon a time as a solution to workplace problems. Now they're a large part of the problem.

Yeah, thats why we are seeing all the "outrage" in the press and liberal quarters over the UAW thuggery, violence and racism going on in Michigan right now. Thats why we are seeing NOW and all the feminist liberals castigate Senator Jim Moran's son for beating the **** out of his girlfriend.

You libs....so brave.

Probably a dumb question, but why should someone strive towards 40 years of Walmart or Jewel/Osco? Shouldn't they aspire and work towards doing something more than just ringing up groceries by the time they're 60?
