BillsLux Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 It must literally be an act of extreme stubborness that Wannstedt refuses to blitz in crucial situations despite the fact that nothing else has worked. Very simple logic, "If you keep doing the same thing over and over again without it working, do something different." What makes it all the more frustrating is that in the first half he did actually blitz a few times before remembering at half that he doesn't believe in it. Also, whenever a coaches wastes a timeout to change his mind, he messed up. A good caoch knows the situation and what he's going to do. He doesn't waste crucial timeouts figuring it out.
jjmac Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 A good coaching staff would not only know what to do, they wouldn't change their minds.
marauderswr80 Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Its called ron brooks cant !@#$ing cover!!!
BuffaloBillsForever Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Agree. It's no surprise when the defense has had some success in the 1st half, teams generally perform well enough to come back and win in close games. Wansteedt is a dolt.
miserable_fan Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Unlike Chan, I have been impressed with Wannstedt's progress throughout the season. He still makes some dumb calls, but there's SOME encouragement

BuffaloBillsForever Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Unlike Chan, I have been impressed with Wannstedt's progress throughout the season. He still makes some dumb calls, but there's SOME encouragement I give the credit to playing REALLY bad offensive teams. Like today, the Rams prior hadn't scored a touchdown in 7 quarters prior to this game. They scored two today.
BuffaloFan68 Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 The game passed Dave W. bye, a long time ago.
Wagon Circler Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 I noticed the same thing. Even though our rush was getting nowhere, he refused to blitz even once, something he had done earlier in the game.
bananathumb Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 He's as much of a gutless DC as Chan is a scared HC. Can't win gambling with scared money. Ask Jimmy Johnson.
notwoz Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 The game passed Dave W. bye, a long time ago. Reminds me of the second time that Joe Gibbs tried coaching the Washington DC franchise with the racist nickname.
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 How do you hang this on Wanny today? Players need to make plays, and stop making dumb mistakes. This team lost because of poor execution. George Wilson dropped two game-ending picks. Gilmore was called for a stupid penalty on the Rams first TD drive. Moore was called for a stupid penalty on the Gilmore int run-back. Fred Jackson can't fumble on the Bills' best offensive drive of the game.
Bob in STL Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 (edited) Bradford was very comfortable on that last drive. He converted a fouth down and two third downs. No DL pressure when we needed it most. Lets not forget George Wilson dropped two ints. He makes a play and we win and Wanny's defense gets bigs props. Would wilson start on any other team in this league? Where are all the Whitner haters now? Edited December 10, 2012 by Bob in STL

Where are all the Whitner haters now? Can't say his D played that poorly. The game he called got him to a 4th down on that drive and put it in our hands twice. He also called one that only gave up one other TD- not a disgrace. His scheme generally worked all day, and frankly should've on the last drive.
bigK14094 Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 D is better these few games, but they need to mix it up some more, they are horrifyingly predictible.
Max997 Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 The blitz was working then come crunch time he backed off hoping offense wouldn't execute
Virgil Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 Over the past 6 games, our defense has only given up 19.1 points per game. You are supposed to win the majority of those games and we keep finding a way to lose. Over those 6 games, we have effectively sealed our season and playoff hopes. Say what you want, but Wanny and the defense has not been the issue.
