Ending up having to filibustering himself. Seems to be a bit rattled at the moment.

No big deal. This isn't going to be decided in the Senate. It will be an Obama/Boehner negotiation. What did you think of the far more embarrassing refusal by Reid to bring Obama's proposal to a vote?

This was not about the cliff

The budget proposal is not about the cliff? So, the only thing about the cliff has to do with raising the debt limit? McConnell was accentuating the point that Obama was trying to get the ok to raise the debt limit himself without a vote, but with a vote required to prevent him from doing it, each time. Purely political. He can raise the limit at will, and it would be the big bad repubs preventing our country from staying afloat. Reid refuses to even bring his party's presidents proposal to a vote because he wants to protect his members from having to make controversial votes. What would you expect from a party who's president has a history of voting "present"?

The "McConnell provision" is gaining traction even among business groups who typically support the GOP.

Sounds like the Party of No was trying to be creative in its anti-American obstructionism...oops!

Yeah, the party of yes has all the answers...

Raise taxes = yes

Increase gov't spending = yes

Refuse to consider sensible spending cuts = yes

Remove congressional approval to increase debt ceiling = yes

Create and expand healthcare entitlement = yes

Leave SS alone, maintain path to insolvency = yes

Leave Medicare on path to insolvency = yes

Leave next President $20T in debt = yes

Give illegal immigrants an easy path to citizenship = yes

Could I go on ad on = you're damn right!

The Whitehouse doesn't even believe in its own proposals. What makes them think there would have been a filibuster. Even the dem senators don't want this.

http://www.nationaljournal.com/blogs/influencealley/2012/12/white-house-swats-away-mcconnell-s-suggestion-06

"The White House on Thursday dismissed as political mischief Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s offer to bring President Obama’s fiscal cliff plan to a vote on the floor, conceding the proposal would not receive the 60 votes needed to overcome a filibuster.

“We don’t have 60 votes in the Senate,” White House press secretary Jay Carney said, adding the White House was “very confident” that Democrats support the principles outlined in Obama’s plan, which has met with derision among Republicans."
