Metal Man Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 The blackout is based on the old analog TV coverage. Ch.5 WTVH, Syracuse coverage reached the 75-mile circle. But now with HDTV over-air-coverage is about half of analog. Syracuse should not be blacked out. (FYI Utica gets blacked out because their is no CBS affiliate there.) PTR Yeah, I understand how the anitquated rules affect that far away. I did a ton of digging when I first moved out to Syracuse about 8 years ago because I couldn't believe I was still in the black out area and that it went so far east. I also agree that if the FCC, or whatever group needs to, reexamined how far Syracuse CBS could reach now they would see the digital signal doesn't come close to eastern Rochester anymore but I'm not holding my breath for that to happen. It just annoys me for some reason that whenever any media outlet talks about the black out radius they always mention the 75 miles when in reality it is much farther than that.
PromoTheRobot Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 (edited) Per Yelp Russells 4 stars Mighty Taco 3.5 stars! I may have to eat dinner there Saturday night and say thanks....uh, actually there are no tables available Saturday. Popular place. PTR Edited December 5, 2012 by PromoTheRobot
Al Cowlings Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 Well to be fair as far as the league is concerned the tickets were all sold and it goes on the record as a sell out. What a local businessman decides to do with the tickets afterwards shouldn't really be a concern. The point is if not for a local businessman it wouldn't be. Prett sad that it has come to this in a year were expectations were so high and the AFC is so weak.
Fan in San Diego Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 Times might be tough, and money scarce in WNY, but Bills fans will go to games if there is some hope...but keep in mind, this was sold out because a good samaritan (Russ Salvatore) came in and purchased the remaining tickets. I will make it a point to go to his restaurant when I go home for Christmas... How many tickets did he buy?
CodeMonkey Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 How many tickets did he buy? None yet. He guaranteed he would buy any that were left. But looking on ticketmaster it has to be less than 2000 and I have to believe he is not paying anywhere near face.

Fan in San Diego Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 Bring $$$$$ (appetizer $9-$14) steak $39 salad $10 small corn $4 potato $6 =$70 plus drinks= $85 plus tip I was at Ruth Chris steak house on the harbor in San Diego a few months back, dinner for 4 with drinks was around $400 to $450 if I remember right. So those prices seem on par with a decent steak house. Granted I wouldn't go back again, I thought it was a bit over priced. When I am craving a really good steak I go to Harrah's Rincon casino, there is a great high end restaurant in the Casino, Fiore's is excellent their bone in rib eye is out of this world and a little more reasonably priced, plus I get to gamble after dinner.

QCity Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 You can't use Stub Hub as an accurate measure of unsold seats. Brandon said that there are over 10,000 seats left (right now) for the Jets game, but Stub Hub shows only 3,600 left.

If you go to ticket master, click on sports, Buffalo Bills, ram vs bills game you can click on a seat chart with all unsold seat shown. Edited December 5, 2012 by Hammered a Lot

' No kidding! My company produces messages for Harrah's Rincon. If you hear a woman's voice talking about upcoming events, etc while on hold, I produced those. PTR

PTR One good thing about NFC teams visiting Buffalo: those games are on Fox. There is a Fox station near Utica (channel 33 in Rome) so blacked out NFC games are available in the Utica area.
yall Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 I just got the text from the Bills. That does it. I'm going to make a point of going to "Russells Steaks Chops, and more"! I told my wife to make reservations at the next available opportunity. He's earned at least one visit from us.
Bufcomments Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Per Russ Brandon's twitter and thanks to Russ Salvatore Like to thank Mr Salvatore for the early Christmas gift to all the Bills fans in the area. Maybe one year we can have a sellout due to the team being good as opposed to a great guy doing a great deed. Merry Christmas Russ
