This is getting pretty old. Coaches change, players change, QB's change, 3-4, 4-3. Everything changes but the record. What in the hell does it take to be on top of the mountain again. Any ideas?

HC,LB,QB..in that order..fix those things thisis a solid playoff team. fix the HC and LB this is a marginal playoff team. Fix the HC this woulda been a marginal playoff team with this patsy 2012 schedule.

Like we've been saying for years. Need a good QB, HC and DC. Having a good owner is nice too.

Understand we are short a couple players from being a playoff team. On Defense- Bradham looks promising but the rest of our LB's are brutal, we only have one corner in Gilmore and Byrd is the only safety of NFL Caliber. For the first part of the year we couldnt play traditional football and play field position and punt the football because we played a lot of good teams, the defense was struggling and we needed to try and win it on offense. On Offense- the spread formation is what allows Spiller to run the football, we've all seen what happens on third and short when we pack it in and the defense knows we are going to try and run it- were stuffed repeatedly. Glenn is an absolute mauler but Wood hasn't had a good year, LeVitre is solid but does not handle size well, Urbik is descent but in and out of the lineup and Hairston filling in for an injured Pears is not very good- in short to go with a pro set we would get dominated. Fitz always has "the what the hell throw" but what kills drives are the penalties on the o-line and the drops by the wideouts consistly more than poor throws. We expect him to complete passes to "wide open guys" under pressure on the run pretty unrealistic - he could play better for sure but step one is get him some weapons to throw to. In short stay the course quit starting over every 3 years, Gailey is a good coach we do not have a team full of great players and he sure feels like man on man blocking along the Offensive line verus the defensive line wouldnt work and Nix is a good GM it just takes time. They weren't here for 13 years but from 2009 (not not Nix draft) LeVitre, Wood, Byrd 2010 Spiller, 2011 Marcel Dareus, 2012 Glenn, Gilmore Bradham we've added some good players. Guys like Aaron Williams, Alex Carrington, Terrell Troup high picks that seem to be misses- then again they are young enough they might turn into something. Bottom line is the talent level is still low would give them another year. My wish is much like adding Mario on the Dline they go get the best LB out there. We were so frustrated and quick to jump on Mario but he's a pretty good player, once the wrist issue was taken care of he's been a force

Usually at this point in one of these kind of threads, someone mentions ownership.

Ralph is cheap, Ralph is old, Ralph needs to die!!!

The fascination with shiny toys. Winning teams have the big men up front who dominate.

The bills over the last decade draft the marshawns, mcgahees, and spillers then plug them in behind 5th rounders, PS castoffs and burger flippers. We can all see how that has worked out.

Where are the top picks from the last ten drafts? Whitner, Maybin, mcgahee, lynch....... You get the idea.

Nix at least is trying to build the lines with dareus, mario, glenn, troup, etc.

We still need a RT, we need a monster at DE we need another DT for depth that isnt a 50% drop off in talent from the starters we have we need a better LG and a less injury prone C.

Then we need some LB's who scare people.

This team is blue collar and as such needs to build in your face kick ass mean spirited lines that DOMINATE.

Thats what wins football games. That makes the shiny toys go.

This team gets great shiny toys that fizzle and bust until being reborn on teams with more talented lines

Its time to stop the **** and start drafting scary fat men who chew nails and piss tacks.

Yes these threads have become tired, just as tired as we fans are of the losing. But the one constant through this 12 going on 13 year run of futility (aside from the owner, who is not going to fire himself) is sub par play at the all important QB position. Johnson, Van Pelt, Bledsoe, Holcomb, Losman, Edwards, Fitz, the list seems endless already. The fastest route to winning is to solve the QB position. The coaches have been below average as well. This will be more difficult to change due to the tenuous ownership situation. You can't draft coaches, and a proven coach or even quality assiatnts have turned this HC job down. Chan probably should be shown the door, but with no franchise type QB in place, we are viewed as the graveyard of coaching. Poor drafting has also left us with no proven # 2 WR and a weak LB corps. Our flaws, in that order, need upgrading to get this team to the playoffs. 13 years doesn't happen due to one player or draft pick. This organization is dysfunctional due to our absentee owner. He is out of touch, and there is zero accountability. This toxic mess trickles thorough and permeates the entire structure. There is a losing culture here, and it definitely affects even our better players. But we just don't have enough good players on this roster.

QB, QB, and QB.

It shouldn't come as a shock to most (although some people on this board I wonder about) that the last time the Bills even had a sniff of the playoffs was when they had a legit QB in Bledsoe. That guy was even on the downside of his career and he was head and shoulders better than anything the Bills have had since.

It is amazing how people rip on Bledsoe around here. He and Flutie were the only QBs that left Buffalo this millennium and actually started on another NFL team. Of course, those were the two guys under center the last time the Bills had a winning season and made the playoffs resp.

From an objective vantage (I know, impossible for people to actually be totally objective) I would say it needs to start at the top. That is an unfortunate opinion for we Bills fans, since when Ralph passes away the team might actually move. Yet, the fact that there is such uncertainty in ownership and team location, makes it just about impossible to attract any quality personnel men or coaches. The only way we could improve in coaching, for instance, is to bring in a young guy who is probably not as high on other team's radars. However, I get the impression Ralph has surrounded himself with a small circle of decision makers who are uncomfortable, or incapable, of knowing how to hire, let alone find, such a coach.

Until we have new ownership, we can look to coaching - and, as I mentioned, the only choice there is probably low profile guys - maybe NFL assistants or college H.C.'s.

I'm beginning to believe Nix, Wanny, and Chan will be back next year. So, if that is so, we'll need to bring in a promising young QB who can make ALL the throws, who has potential, and who can seriously challenge for a starting role. We need to imporve LB's, and get another star WR. If we can keep our F.A.'s, get a young, decent QB, another good WR, and maybe a LB or two, we should be able to compete for at least a wild card spot.

You just cant miss in the 1st and 2d rounds as often as we do and expect to be a winner.

Looking back at how many 1st rd picks have played as a 5 year starter for the bills since '00 is the answer.

It kills our continuity, and has left us in a sort of no mans land for a decade.
