billsfan89 Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 IF McClain is released from the Raiders (Which seems like a good possibility) should the Bills be interested in kicking the tires on the guy? I mean he showed a lot of promise but hasn't panned out. That could be due to a toxic situation in Oakland. The guy is also a bit of a problem off the field. I know the typical reaction would be to say no simply because he was drafted high and we have heard of him doesn't mean we should sign him. Or the other side will be well I have heard of the guy so we should sign him. I think bringing him in as a back up with zero guarantee might be good for him, make him hungry to play and tap that potential. But its hard to say he wouldn't be a cancer in the locker room. I think if you can get him at his most desperate and sign him to a contract were you can release him at any point it might be worth a shot. I guess if you got the right deal it is worth a shot.
BRAWNDO Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Why not, a change of scenery might do him good.
JPS Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 He seems like a lowlife scumbag, the likes of this town has not seen. I would bet my son there's no way the Bills sign that guy.
Johnny Hammersticks Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 He's not very good...especially weak in pass coverage. Plus, he's always in trouble with the law. No thanks.
NewEra Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Considering our current Lbs, I'd love to have him. I don't think he's great, but he'll help a lot vs the run.
Stevie Ray Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Unfortunately he'll spend more time getting mug shots and finger printed than playing on the field. Pass.
Malazan Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Every players gets a 'we should sign him' thread. I'm glad this one has been fulfilled and can die now. If you think he's going to be an upgrade, time to take off the 'every player not on the Bills is better than the Bills player at that position' glasses.
Maddog69 Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 No thanks. He was great in college but has flamed out in the pros. Add to that his legal troubles and apparent stupidity and I would vote for the Bills to stay away.
SBUffalo Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Before his most recent incident, I definitely wanted him. However, he has shown me that he is a lowlife scumbag who will never change, and never wants to. The fact that he could've just gotten a simple ticket, but got himself arrested by signing the ticket "!@#$ y'all" is childish and unacceptable. No place for him in this league.
NoSaint Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 hes not only a terrible human off the field, he is rated as one of the worst in the league on the field. you never know what a change of scenery will do but he doesnt seem to have the best risk to reward ratio
BuffaloBud Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 If he flamed out in Seattle and Oakland, what makes you think that moving to Buffalo is going to make him into the next Lawrence Taylor? Stick a fork in him.
NoSaint Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 If he flamed out in Seattle and Oakland, what makes you think that moving to Buffalo is going to make him into the next Lawrence Taylor? Stick a fork in him. mcclain, not curry
Dr. Trooth Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 WTF? I would hope the Bills, especially with a new regime in place, would set their sights a bit higher than McClain. If the Bills can't do better than McClain, then they can never expect to reach the playoffs. If I'm a new HC, establishing a new culture, and knowing I have a few good players, but need a lot more... especially LBs, McClain wouldn't even be on the list.
marauderswr80 Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Id only sign McClain if we were in a gang fight....
T master Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Don't know unless you try and it can't hurt just to bring him in & run him through the mill heck we gave Maybin 2 years we can give him 2 hrs .
FigPatrick Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 2 things are very comical here.... 1. That this is even a topic. 2. That there are Bills fans that would even consider this move. This guy is below average to terrible and is a menace off of the field. How about this...if we sign a complete thug let him at least be good. Remember Marshawn Lynch?
spillerhighlife Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Just saw on espn former 1st round pick rolando McClain is getting released. Get er done? Can't have too many first rounders on defense.
thebandit27 Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Oh please no...I didn't think he was very good coming out of 'bama, and now I'm convinced of it; then there's the off-field chicanery. No thank you.
boyst Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Sign him!!! What are we waiting for! God, this team is horrible. I'm so done here.
