Three years in, worse result than before, now what???

Levitre and Byrd are above average players and their play is not the reason why we have not made the playoffs over the last number of years. There are no obvious replacements for these players and drafting to replace lost talent has killed this team.

Three years have not gone by and you have added same comment in a number of other threads.

 

Buddy's rebuild is 14-28 in 2+ seasons, and if a fan cannot complain about that, well, what's the use anymore? Someone has already pointed out what it'll take in this thread for real improvement to occur.

 

And for the record, Dick Jauron with Marv Levy and then Brandon as the GM did better from 06-08 than Buddy the top five talent evaluator and offensive genius Chan Gailey will do from 2010-12. But, we shouldn't complain because to do so might seem like we're not "real" fans.

Some delusional fan recently made a thread comparing Buddy Nix and his draft picks to what Bill Polian drafted during his time in Buffalo. Trying to make the point that even Polian made mistakes every year.

 

What that poster missed was the fact that Polian completely turned over the roster in the first two years leaving only 4 players. That Polian found his franchise QB and head coach in his first year began to win in the playoffs by his 3rd year. That 3rd year the Bills started out 11-1. The Bills went to the AFC Championship game.

 

 

 

Now it is conceivable the Buffalo Bills could make a 6 game winning run,and make the playoffs at 10-6. If that should happen Nix, Gailey and Fitz could redeem themselves from that abysmal 14-28 record.

 

BUT!The reality dictates that this years team is historically bad on defense with a very good supporting cast and bad coaching. That the offense is ranked 16th in total offense, 24th in passing, 7th in rushing ...with a head coach who constantly calls for shotgun passing plays while the starting QB is a perennial backup who has never been a winner. The two brilliant RB's on the roster in Spiller and Jackson could both be in the pro bowl under a running coach with either of the Harbaugh's, Gary Kubiak or Marty Schottenheimer.

 

The Bills could easily be winning games and have the #1 run game in the NFL with the talent they have at the RB position if the Bills had a different HC and DC... OR, if Gailey and Wannstedt suddenly obtain more gray cells.

This is an odd rebuild. The talent on the team has improved greatly IMO. The OL is actually very good and there are some playmakers on this team (Stevie, Freddy, CJ, Chandler). The defense is patchy and many of the draft choices have simply failed to develop.

 

The major problems that :

 

1. No QB and no QB of the future on the roster.

2. Defense scheme started 3-4, switched to 4-3, switched DC's and actually somehow got worse ... ?

3. Game day coaching and overall preparation. We do not seem to make the right adjustments at halftime.

4. We lose a lot of close games. There is a lack of leadership and accounatbility among the players. We just do not seem to have players with a winning menatality.
