Documents Reveal State Department Officials Told Three Months before Attack that Benghazi Security Guards Abandoning Posts Out of Fear for Safety

(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch announced today that it has obtained 130 pages of new State Department documents revealing that local security guards working for Blue Mountain Group (BMG), the firm hired to protect the U.S. Special Mission in Benghazi, repeatedly abandoned their posts “out of fear of their safety” in the months leading up to the deadly terrorist attack on the special mission compound.

The documents were obtained by Judicial Watch pursuant to a February 25, 2013, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of State (No. 13-00243)) seeking the following information:

“Any and all records regarding, concerning, or related to the $387,413.68 contract awarded by the Department of State to an unidentified foreign awardee for “Security Guards and Patrol Services.” According to the record of this expenditure on USASpending.gov, the contract was signed on February 17, 2012 and May 3, 2012, and is identified by Award ID SAQMMA12C0092.”

According to the documents, on June 30, 2012, three months before the Benghazi terrorist attack, a Quality Assurance Compliance Report from Blue Mountain Libya to Department of State Contract Specialist Neal Kern warned that the number of local security guards leaving their posts had put the U.S. Benghazi Mission at risk

Gowdy Hires Top Lawyer for Benghazi Committee.

“Chairman Trey Gowdy, R-S.C. announced Friday he has hired a retired three-star general to lead the panel’s legal team. Lt. Gen. Dana K. Chipman was the senior military lawyer for the Army for four years as judge advocate general at the Pentagon, Gowdy’s office said. He retired last November after 33 years on active duty.”

They didn't abandon their posts. They were late because Chris Christie closed the bridge

No, they abandoned their posts.

Probably with the exclamation "What difference does it make?"

Wow, he's making some serious cash off this partisan witch hunt. Already getting military retirement pay and now probably top dollars at government expense also.

LOL............funny how the media tries to extend the CIA and State dpt. being "cleared" to the Obama political apparatus.

The media interpretation of the findings is also flatly contradictory in places. Take for example this declaration of a lack of any culpability. (Emphasis added.)

Debunking a series of persistent allegations hinting at dark conspiracies, the investigation of the politically charged incident determined that
there was no intelligence failure
, no delay in sending a CIA rescue team, no missed opportunity for a military rescue, and no evidence the CIA was covertly shipping arms from Libya to Syria.

So, nothing to see here. Move along. Except for one problem. The coverage also seeks to make it clear that Susan Rice couldn’t possibly be to blame for her blatantly false portrayals of the attack on the Sunday morning shows. Watch what happens to the analysis on this score.

In the immediate aftermath of the attack, intelligence about who carried it out and why was contradictory, the report found. That led Susan Rice, then U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, to inaccurately assert that the attack had evolved from a protest, when in fact there had been no protest.
But it was intelligence analysts, not political appointees, who made the wrong call
, the committee found. The report did not conclude that Rice or any other government official acted in bad faith or intentionally misled the American people.

Keep in mind, these are not two paragraphs separated by miles of text. They’re back to back. And somehow, in the space of four sentences, we went from there was no intelligence failure to reading it was intelligence analysts… who made the wrong call. If you’re making the wrong call – particularly one which turned out to be so incredibly far off base – then that sounds like an intelligence failure to me.

Also rather stunning is the way that a complete vindication of the White House is somehow constructed out of these conclusions. Susan Rice was either lying or she was wrong. Neither possibility paints the administration in a very competent light. And if there was a failure of intelligence, how does that clear the White House?

No, The "Blame the video" story that the administration desperately put out pre-election is still out there, with no good explanation

Oh my! Benghazi is really reaching into the midlevel of conspiracy theories. No longer small potatoes means that, yes, it has been--finally--attributed to the Jews. Yes, what respectable conspiracy theory would be with a Jewish connection? The Liberal media isnt covering this of course! Thank God

Duff: It is unusual hearing someone as radical and extremist as Netanyahu talk about others. The reactions in Islam were carefully orchestrated by Israeli forces that produced the films, released them, led the attacks and the attacks against the US consulate in Benghazi were, we believe, stimulated, paid for and organized by Israel’s Mossad and they had nothing to do ...; as a matter of fact, they were planned months in advance and orchestrated carefully with the release of the movie.

Next step for Benghazi has to be its connection to the JFK assassination!
