You herd it hear last Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 (edited) How 'bout a little love for Rian Lindell? Outstanding performance last night. Got points where none could be found by the O, bailed the Bills out and won the game. Quietly having a solid season for us (again). More pressure or less pressure without the rookie breathing down? I dunno, you tell me. Does the run back happen with the KO specialist in there? Again, I dunno. The NFL Network guys sure were questioning his leg strength last night, on several occasions characterized him to be a not-so-NFL-caliber kicker, but he kept bangin' em through. Any of yous notice that? (I just noticed that was post #666 for me) Edited November 16, 2012 by madtowntobuffalo
Captain Hindsight Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Well, his leg isnt as strong as it used to be. Hence why we drafted a guy to do kickoffs. But he is still a good NFL kicker for a year or two
mrags Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 This (clueless) guy standing next to me at the game made a comment about one of Lindell's kickoffs that barely reached the 10. He said something along the lines of, come on Lindell, your better than that. All I could do is laugh under my UA face mask. Lindell was on the borderline of being cut because of his lack of leg power and they brought in the young kid for kickoff duties. IMO the kids play deteriorated as the season went on. Lindell will always be a good to great FG kicker though. I couldn't be happier with his play the last few years. Chan in the other hand must have Rian on his fantasy team and that's why he kept pulling our best offensive weapons in the red zones last night.
ALLEN1QB Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Wish we had this "weak" leg kicker 20 some years ago lol
DrDawkinstein Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 A lot of people at the bar were getting on him for not making that tackle on the TD, but I reminded them that #1 the kicker shouldnt be making the tackle to begin with, and #2 putting a good hit on a returner is how he injured himself last year, which ended up costing us at least one game. I like Lindell. He's on the downslide of his career, but still clutch. Not a bad guy to have at kicker for now.
fan_in_tx Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Lindell has been great but next year I say we bring in this guy. http://www.okstate.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/sharp_quinn00.html Bring in Thurman to start the lobbying process
Best Player Available Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Wish we had this "weak" leg kicker 20 some years ago lol Seriously, that kick would have been on the limits of Lindells range too.

truth on hold Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Let powell try kickoffs. Couldn't be any worse.

Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Actually I think Lindell and Norwood were very similar, very good from short distance, not a long leg. Didn't the Bill's also for a couple years bring in a guy for kickoffs then too do to Norwood's weak leg? Wish we had this "weak" leg kicker 20 some years ago lol
1B4IDie Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 This is BS. Lindell should be cut. We punted inside the 40!!! Punting inside the 40 should almost never happen in the NFL. You either go for the FG or you go for it on 4th. Chan Gailey has punted 5 times this season from inside the 40!!! This should cause nothing but disgust from the fans for the GM that can't field a kicker that can hit 40+ yard FG and the coach that won't go for it on 4th down. The whole situation is semi unbelievable. Only the Buffalo Bills would have a strategy to consistently kick from inside an opponents 40. The futility of the strategy is horrible on epic proportions. It truly is amazing this is happening right before everyone's eye. Then you get a handful of idiots that say "I'm OK with the Bills punting from inside the 40." That level of stupidity should result in an instant No Country from Old Man stake in the head. Thump.
benderbender Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 I agree. Going for it on 4th down from the opponents 40 isn't suicide. The opponent is getting the ball anyway, why not try. Bellicheat would. Leading 50-0 too.
