bourbonboy Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Per Rotoworld..... Maybin appeared to get his career back on track as the team's most effective per-play pass rusher in 2011, but he had just two QB hits and zero sacks this season. The No. 9 overall pick in the 2009 draft managed just one tackle on 120 snaps through eight games.
truth on hold Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 (edited) Let's sign him. We have no outside pressure. Seriously. Edited November 13, 2012 by Joe_the_6_pack
Jauronimo Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Maybin was the heart and soul of that team. Clearly, this means that the Jets have not only given up on the season but that the franchise is likely to fold.
GG Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Buddy obviously asleep. I imagine the Maybin thread on Gangreen forums will light up shortly.
\GoBillsInDallas/ Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 They signed RB Kahlil Bell (they only had one healthy RB on their roster) and had to let someone go.
Bullpen Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Well if he gets picked up by another team, he can at least now direct his scorn and disdain towards the Jets now...

I will eat a little crow on this one...to be clear, I never once said he was gonna do anything or be any good. But I did say in preseason that it would not surprise me to see him hit double digit sacks if the Jets just used him as a blitz specialist like last year for a full season given he got 6 in limited time last year as a part time player while still learning the defense. Plus, the Jets were hyping him pretty big, so sounded like he might finally be finding a role. In my defense, I did say I still didn't expect him to be any good, just that it wouldnt surprise me if he managed double digit sacks just doing more of what he did last year. At the same time, it does not surprise me at all that he did nothing and is now cut and is just another example of the Jets hype machine BS.
Captain Hindsight Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 They must be getting ready to play Tebow as a blitzer
Billy in 4C Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 In all seriousness he would be the greatest CFL player ever. He would be like a minature version of Bruce Smith.
NoSaint Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 In all seriousness he would be the greatest CFL player ever. He would be like a minature version of Bruce Smith. i dont know how anyone thought hed be good at anything. hes a slow version of plaxico burress.
Malazan Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 (edited) i dont know how anyone thought hed be good at anything. hes a slow version of plaxico burress. He is good at one thing. One thing only. The outside speed rush with decent coverage to give him time. The Jets were able to put him in that position. They are short at CB this year and Maybin bulked up to be an everydown player. He's not. He sacrificed speed for no gain, but that makes your point about him being slower than stupid rather true. Meathead Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 he can just gain four hundred pounds by tomorrow and fight in the million dollar sumo championship

peterpan Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 I cant believe he alsted as long as he did. Every Jets game I watched he would get pankcaked by some RB.
KD in CA Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 There are probably guys on this board who could get six sacks if they a) didn't ever worry about the run and b) took a route to the QB via Bangor, ME while the best secondary in football covered everyone for an ice age. That's basically what happened last season a few times and suddenly people thought this guy had discovered some talent? Ridiculous. 2012 showed the real Maybin. Dominated on every play I saw him in this year. Every single play.
