If its another blowout loss for the Bills tomorrow against the Patriots, they get my permission to make changes now!
Offside Number 76 Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 (edited) Changes are fine, but Schottenheimer? Good Lord, no. EDIT: Anticipating the argument that he improves teams and gets them into the playoffs, even if he doesn't get to Super Bowls, think about it this way: No team that he ever has coached has recovered from his tenure. dwight in philly Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 we have not recovered in 13 years.. and not from him
Offside Number 76 Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 we have not recovered in 13 years.. and not from him Still doesn't mean that he's the answer. He isn't.

Great idea, Maybe we can get Marv back in some capacity, so him and Marty can get case discounts on Metamusil.

thewildrabbit Posted November 11, 2012 Author Posted November 11, 2012 What the Chiefs source is speculating is that the KC owner wants Schotty as GM or in some other unknown capacity to advise the team. My speculation would be to hire him as HC or GM, either works for me as the man is a god at getting a losing scrub team, and turning them into a winner. 203-127-1= 606 % Says it all. The man knows player talent, he knows what assistants to hire, he is a supreme motivator, and could get this years team to overachieve instead of falling on their faces game after game. This only works if Ralph Wilson feels "comfortable" hiring Marty tho Perhaps some of you are happy with the current coach 13-27 . 325 % in Buffalo... I think Gailey has proved he is the opposite of Marty S in that he took over a 7-9 team and made it worse to 4-12 / 6-10 and it might just get worse this year. Gailey in 3 years still hasn't even equaled Jauron's 7-9 mark.
HOUSE Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 What makes you believe Schottenheimer would come to Buffalo
Offside Number 76 Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 What makes you believe Schottenheimer would come to Buffalo Are you kidding? He doesn't really have his pick of NFL jobs. For good reason. Keep him the hell away from here. If there's a Marty sighting at the airport, shut down all highways.
Buftex Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 (edited) I wish I could remember the source, or how this rumor came about, but as I recall, Buddy Nix had considered pursuing Schottenheimer (when we got Gailey) but Ralph Wilson put the kabosh on it...in fact, at the time, it was said Mr Wilson did not want either Schotsy or Jim Haslett coaching his team. Who knows what the reasoning would be, if this is true. IRT Haslett, it might just be that he is kind of a classless douche...but Schotsy? Clearly, Mr Wilson wouldn't be concerned about his age...could it be that he wouldn't want to pay a head coach the amount of money it would take (or would have taken after the 2009 season) to sign Schottenheimer. It seems well known that Mr Wilson is not a big fan of paying top dollar for coaches... While I think the Bills could far worse than Schotteheimer (they have many times), I think they need to go younger. Edited November 11, 2012 by Buftex

reddogblitz Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 No team that he ever has coached has recovered from his tenure. Marty's old team, the Clowns moved to Baltimore and won a SB. They seem to have recovred just fine. I would love to see Marty coaching the Bills in 2013.

I take that back we need to tank the season first so we can finally get a high pick QB.

thewildrabbit Posted November 11, 2012 Author Posted November 11, 2012 (edited) What makes you believe Schottenheimer would come to Buffalo Because he wanted the Bills head coaching ( Badly) job back in 2010 and RW didn't feel "comfortable" hiring him. He was with Buddy Nix in San Diego, and Nix wanted to hire Marty first thing, Wilson said no. http://espn.go.com/b...anted-bills-gig People that don't want a man who has proven he has the ability to turn a bad team into a winning are just asking for more years of 3 and out. What new young HC is guaranteed to make enough impact to win? The highways and byways of the NFL are littered with the corpses of wannabies. Gailey is a wannabie, so is Jon Gruden! Wait until the Eagles see what their defense looks like with Gruden as HC. He is no better then Gailey because without DC Monte Kiffin running that TB defense his team went from mediocre to horrid! Mike Mularkey, Tony Sparano, Raheem Morris, Greg Williams, Josh McDaniel's, Eric Mangini, Romeo Crennel, Butch Davis, Chris Palmer, Brad Childress, Mike Tice, Dom Capers, Tod Haley, Dennis Green, Dave McGinnis, Jim Mora jr, Ron Rivera, Jim Schwartz, Rod Marinelli, Norv Turner etc etc etc and beyond ... Jeez, I'm so sick of watching the Bills suck year after year. I want to see the Bills become a playoff team again. They find the right QB and even Schotty can win in the playoffs Edited November 11, 2012 by Fear the Beard

I would love to see Marty coaching the Bills in 2013. Marty was with the Browns for five or six years and left in 1988. The Ravens won the SB in what, 2000? That's not recovering from him. So the Bills would be on track for a nice SB win in 2031 or so, if they hire him next year. Great. Change does not have to involve more mistakes.

How exactly is that his fault? This has more to do with who he was replaced with then him obviously. I've wanted Marty with the Bills since he left San Diego and would be crushed if he went to KC n turned them around which I'm sure he would. He turns teams around quickly with an emphasis on running the ball and playing tough defense...yeah who wouldn't want that Edited November 11, 2012 by Max997
