San Jose Bills Fan Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Good stuff. Thanks for posting. Still looks like the same game we all know and love… Mike Stratton spearing Namath on a blindside blitz, LOL.
Wagon Circler Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 I was at that game. I believe that was the only game we won that year on our way to 1-12-1. The Jets meanwhile went on to win the Superbowl. Strange days indeed.
Corp000085 Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 My mom played at halftime of that game with her high school band
BuffaloBrad Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 No way was that a fumble on the Stratton sack. Tuck rule.
l< j Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 (edited) Wannstadt's defensive scheme would have totally shut down that team. Or at least in 1968 it would have had a chance to be competitive. Edited October 26, 2012 by l< j
dwight in philly Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 i remember it like it was yesterday!....still miss that stadium.. the atmosphere..pure BILLS football even though they stunk that year..
WarMemorial Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 I too was at that game! My Dad would take me to the Holiday Inn the Jets, and other teams, stayed for autographs and I remember a few team mates of Broadway Joe mentioning that Namath had been out all night and was nursing a pretty epic hangover. Explains the 5 INT's
Marv's Neighbor Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 That was the same season as the HEIDI GAME. Hard to believe that there were not that many "color" TV's then. A "big screen" was 21". If you wanted to see the game in color you either had to go to the game, or go to a bar that had the TV.
Charles Romes Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 I too was at that game! My Dad would take me to the Holiday Inn the Jets, and other teams, stayed for autographs and I remember a few team mates of Broadway Joe mentioning that Namath had been out all night and was nursing a pretty epic hangover. Explains the 5 INT's Maybe someone from that era could fill us in on where he might have been partying the night before.
dwight in philly Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 well im from that "era" but i was only 16 at the time, in hindsight, i guess i should have been partying..
nucci Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 No way was that a fumble on the Stratton sack. Tuck rule. Plus Stratton would have been penalized and fined for the hit on Namath.
Nanker Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Nice to see the origins of the "Hey! Somebody get that guy" run defense that The Bills play to this day.
WWVaBeach Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 I didn't know they put both teams names in the end zones.
Helpmenow Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 My neighbor had seasons back then. We were there for that one 45 yard line on the visitors side. I was at that game. I believe that was the only game we won that year on our way to 1-12-1. The Jets meanwhile went on to win the Superbowl. Strange days indeed.
Fan in San Diego Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Looks like the same old Bills. No defense to speak of, they had 5 interceptions and still almost lost the game. Some things never change., that's why we need a new owner to change the culture of this team.
billykaykay Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 I too was at that game! My Dad would take me to the Holiday Inn the Jets, and other teams, stayed for autographs and I remember a few team mates of Broadway Joe mentioning that Namath had been out all night and was nursing a pretty epic hangover. Explains the 5 INT's I heard that Joe was out most of the night at Brunners with Marty Schottenheimer.
RJ (not THAT RJ) Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 I heard that Joe was out most of the night at Brunners with Marty Schottenheimer. That would have been Marty's greatest contribution to the Bills' success in his career.
