Charles Romes Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 One time we were able bring in big name free agents who could actually play. Paup, Washington, Spielman.
sweatpantsjoe Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 When the Buffalo News used to have poster pages of Bills players they had one of Spielman in 96 and it hung in my room until I moved out of my parents house in 05. I still have his Starting Lineup figure. He didn't even make it to the regular season for the expansion Browns in 99 yet when I went to a Browns game 2 years later in 01 people were still wearing his jersey.

Fan in Chicago Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 One time we were able bring in big name free agents who could actually play. Paup, Washington, Spielman. Exactly what I was thinking. This year, more than most, I miss the likes of Spielman, Paup. Heck, even Takeo Spikes.
ChevyVanMiller Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Couldn't find a link, but I remember that Spielman once locked himself naked in his hotel room all night with the air conditioning blasting on high to get himself ready to go play a playoff game in the snow. Now that's dedication to one's craft...
BuffBill Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Chris Spielman will be the feature on NFL network A Football Life next Wed 31Oct. I know his time with Buffalo was short, but in my mind he is family. It would have been longer if not for a neck injury and his wife battling an illness.
jake24 Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 I would love to have a LB play as hard as he did by in '96 & '97. Our LB's for the last 13 years IMO sucked, Poz was good but injured to way often.
Simon Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Is starting right now. I didn't know they were going to do one on him; this should be tremendous. One of the smartest, toughest, most instinctive players that has ever stepped foot on a field. You youngsters should take some time to check it out.
The Cincinnati Kid Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 In a related topic, although not totally related, does anyone know what the music is that starts each "a football life" episode?
boyst Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 (edited) Chris Spielman is amazing and this puts Ray Lewis' story to shame. Ray is all pomp and glamor, getting in front of camera's and Spielman is a true man, hands dirty, and he doesn't have the issues that Ray and so many current players had. He doesn't hide behind I would not give anything to be in Chris' shoes. I could never fill those steps. edit: Stefanie might be tougher then he is. Edited November 1, 2012 by jboyst62
BuffaloBud Posted November 1, 2012 Author Posted November 1, 2012 (edited) Guys-I hope you had a chance to catch this. Well worth the time. Now, pardon me while I compose myself. Edited November 1, 2012 by BuffaloBud
boyst Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Guys-I hope you had a chance to catch this. Well worth the time. Now, pardon me while I compose myself. No joke. It wasn't Chris that got to me, or Stephanie. One of the final shots with their daughter was what finally shook me.

Columbus Dispatch just did an article about the oldest daughter - special young woman! Cut from the same bolt of cloth as her mom and dad.
turdferguson Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Now that's a guy that has his priorities straight. Great player, an even better man

Buftex Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Gonna watch this later tonight...I expected it would be pretty good... btw- have only had the NFLN for about 6 weeks...it isn't much better (in some ways worse) that ESPN, but "Football Life" has been great...loved the one about Steve McNair last week...

How to play with heart and smarts.
