Jetman Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 In 1981, the Baltimore Colts set the NFL record for allowing 533 points in a 16 game season, an average of 33.3 points per game allowed. The 1966 NY Giants allowed 430 points in a 14 game schedule, averaging 35.8 points per game allowed. Through 7 games, the Bills have allowed 227 points, averaging 32.43 points per game allowed. Projecting this over 16 games, this comes out to 519 points allowed for the season. In short, this means that this years team could have one of the worst defenses IN THE HISTORY OF THE NFL. Ouch.
billsfan714 Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 After the Texans and the Patriots, I think we can get back ahead of that 35.8 points per game pace.

1B4IDie Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 After the Texans and the Patriots, I think we can get back ahead of that 35.8 points per game pace. I think you have a point. It seems very likely we'll be giving up iver 35 to both teams.
drinkTHEkoolaid Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 The bills defense is approaching historic levels of sucking.
Mike in Syracuse Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 What's most incredible, they have very few injuries.
BringBackFergy Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 The bills defense is approaching historic levels of sucking. What did Chan say in his post game press conf again?? "have you reconsidered your defensive game planning or coaching??" and his answer was "no". That speaks volumes to me. Unwilling to admit a glaring weakness in our team.
Jetman Posted October 22, 2012 Author Posted October 22, 2012 And Wannstedt still has his job because....
BringBackFergy Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 And Wannstedt still has his job because.... I'll take "because he looks like an 80's porn star and game plans like one" for $500 Alex
RyanC883 Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 I think you have a point. It seems very likely we'll be giving up iver 35 to both teams. More than 35. I think the Texans put up over 40 on us. Well, some of the points will come from a pic-6 most likely.
Just in Atlanta Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 The highest score ever was 73 points by the Bears in 1940. If the Texans scored that, would Wanny get fired?
Offside Number 76 Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 There's got to be a way to negatively monetize this, too. Because while it isn't the most expensive defense in history, it has to be up there.
thewildrabbit Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 My only question, WTF is it going to take? The man has already shown unbelievable ineptitude in doing his job. Juan Castillo of the Eagles was fired for a 15th ranked defense, and as an ex O line coach while not having any DC experience has shown more ability then Wannstooge. I suppose being a friend of the HC has its merits
Green Lightning Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Unless Nix or Ralph throws down, the plan is to play out the year with this crew of coaches. Maybe several more blow outs may change that.
BuffaloBill Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 If Gailey hopes to keep his job a change is in order. Wanny's scheme just seems to suck. The talent can't be this bad. If it is then Buddy should resign immediately.
Tcali Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 --and this is with 200 million tied up on the d line
jad1 Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Moorman's punting average is slightly lower than his career average, so Gailey cuts him. Wannaclue's defense is putting up historically horrible numbers, and Chan says, 'nothing to see here.' And if Johnson had 30 carries instead of just 18 today, the Titans would have laid another 50 spot on the Bills.

BiggieScooby Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 We are so bad against the run its not even funny. If people are playing hurt get em off the field, if not hurt cut em! They are a crap run defense. I could live with 400 yards passing if they prevented teams from running but we aren't. If Wanny wants to impress me he will devise a gameplan to neutralize Foster & the rest of the Texans run game.
