Punch Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 I want this team to move so I have a good reason to jump off the band wagon. If you're wishing the team moves then it sounds like you've already made the jump.
Salty Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 20 years of fandom, mostly pain, but Im not going anywhere, unless the owners or management get caught running a child porn ring or its found out their part of a international conspiracy to institute a one world government, maybe the Bills are holding back a cure for aids, ect....... The money they spent told me their doing the best they can to field a winner (this year at least) and the season is still young. Im still hoping to somehow slip into the playoffs, but win or lose I'll just deal, because thats life. Try watching someone lose a REAL game, CANCER. Lets Go Buffalo!!! KILL CANCER!!!
LancasterSteve Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Yes it's me. I've undergone a twelve-step and renounced hardcore bills fandom. Now, i'm what you'd call a casual observer looking on with mild interest and amusement at another hindenburgian season. Good to see You Joe, not many of us oldtimers left around these parts Oh I still watch the Bills play but my heart (for real) just can't take the tension by by freaking out over this putrid brand of Bills football. Plus taking care of an 89 year young Mom can put a new perspective on so many different things
Hater Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 (edited) Look at it this way on Dec 21 the Mayan Calendar says the worlds gonna end so there is not much suffering left Edited October 22, 2012 by Matt183
benderbender Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Look at it this way on Dec 21 the Mayan Calendar says the worlds gonna end so there is not much suffering left I would believe in the Mayan apocalypse if were to have a winning record by that point. That would be true Buffalo Bills irony.
XXL Franchize Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Just like an alcoholic or drug addict you will wake up in few days without the hangover and watch again. All Bills fans need to go into a treatment facility. Very true....Very sad but very true!!!!! We are all doomed to repeat this cycle.
metzelaars_lives Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Am I the only one who finds these weekly posts very similar to when the guy breaks down and cries his first night in Shawshank? We should start taking bets on who it's gonna be each week.
disco Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 I think for me the signing of Mario Williams helped a lot as a Bills fan. It was refreshing to see us not only spend the money, but the total effort to get the deal done. To a lesser extend, the original signing of Merriman was similar in that quite a lot of money was invested in a high risk guy that in the end really turned out to be a waste. The extensions of Stevie Johnson was nice. Freddy Jackson extension seemed like the right thing to do. Their attempts at luring a big name coach was refreshing too; it's unfortunate that didn't pan out. I really enjoy Nix and his direct tone with the fans - this is rare. Not sure if he's the right guy, but I've liked a lot of his moves in the moment despite hindsight proving some of them to be wrong. In summary, I continue to find the Bills a franchise that I enjoy rooting for. What I've unfortunately discovered, however, is the emotional impact they have on me has faded. I guess years of defeat just equate to a desensitization and numbness. While I was hoping for the win today, after it was over it didn't feel that bad because I knew it might get us closer to a top draft pick. I think we all know this isn't a team that's going to win the Super Bowl. It's highly unlikely to be a team that makes the playoffs. I still believe we're not going to be that team without a franchise QB draft pick. One of these years we need to suffer through a 3-13 year to get there, maybe this will be it. I know that'd help get a coach in the door too. Where I differ with the poster is I can't see myself actually following the team any less. It just doesn't hurt as much anymore. This idea of hoping the team moves is crazy to me too...I still hope one day the pieces come together and we get to see a Super Bowl win. Have no idea if it will ever happen, but I'd never wish for something that would make it impossible.
Nitro Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 I have been a BILLS fan since 65. Saw them play at the Rockpile with my Dad. I have seen glimpses over the years of great and talented teams. I have seen Ralph and his minions draft poorly and field teams with below NFL talent. Only 1 great QB drafted in 52 years. Let that sink in. This years team is feast or famine with talent. On offense you have a talented O line (when healthy), 2 great RBs, above average WR and an adequate TE. Fitz is a system QB in need of better talent at WR. He is very average and is not the answer. Defense is puzzling. Many NFL sources and not local fans, praised the Front office for the talent assemble on the D line. Williams and Dareus are playing poorly. The lbs are green or cast offs. By the way London Fletcher is having another good year. DBs are in need of a better coaching staff. Chan and this staff is played out. They need to get a young QB, better #2 WR and a play making LB. Once again it is not even Halloween and I am looking forward to the draft.
Mike in Syracuse Posted October 22, 2012 Author Posted October 22, 2012 Thats exactly what they are.... your last sentence said it all. It was the same thing during the Juaron era. The koolaid just had more sugar in it this summer. The Bills did actually try this spring and summer and that gave us hope. But so far Mario is "stealing" money and Anderson is hurt and Wanny is a joke of a DC. Only reason I watch is because of C.J. and Freddie because they do some amazing things. I would chalk it up to no talent but for one thing, players leave the Bills and have GREAT careers with other teams. Look around the NFL, there a former Bills players starting everywhere.
Bufcomments Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 I would chalk it up to no talent but for one thing, players leave the Bills and have GREAT careers with other teams. BuffaloFan68 Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 I too have seen the Bills play back in the day at the Rockpile, however if I don't see changes during the bye week than I am also going to take a leave of absence from this team. Fire Wanny & bench Fitz already!!!!!!! Unless this team turns things around - then I'm going to raise my kids to route for other teams do they won't have to go through a life long pain of being a Bills fan.
Peace Frog Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 I'm lucky. I work night shift on the weekends so I can't watch these debacles because I'm sleeping. My only solution to when we suck is to root for whoever plays Dallas.
26TrapDraw Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 After the game today my 8 year old son comes up and say, "Daddy, why do you root for the Bills?" I ask him, "What do you mean?" He replies, "they only make you mad and frustrated, so why do you watch them?" It's a good point. As long as he's been alive they've only been a source of Sunday frustration and at this point it's pretty much only that something in me that refuses to quit, give up or take the easy route that has me still rooting for them. I think most Bills fans feel your pain Mike and understand where you're coming from and I'm sure we'll see you back here a few weeks from now when the Bills will figure out a whole new way how to lose. this...my mind my wife my family everyone asks why I am a bills fan. So Do I...but like here comes honey boo boo.....I cant look away
ndirish1978 Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 I completely understand you Mike. I've found myself similarly taking a bit of a step back from the Bills in the past few weeks. Like others I tend to DVR the games now rather than going out of my way to watch them live. I used to check this site multiple times a day, now I look in every other week. Be a fan, but don't lose sleep over the team. It's obvious the defense and DC aren't losing sleep over being this terrible and there is zero chance we make the playoffs this year. You don't go from a terrible team to a winning franchise overnight and we won't see a movie-type turnaround this year.
bowery4 Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 That was a heartbreaking loss no doubt, somewhat like the Monday night game against Dallas. I have been standing still with anticipation and excitement so many times with this team (since I was about 4 or 5, I am 53 next month BTW) that ripping my heart out has just gotten easier for this team.
NastyNateSoldiers Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Just like an alcoholic or drug addict you will wake up in few days without the hangover and watch again. All Bills fans need to go into a treatment facility. Absolutely correct. We need to go to Bills fans anonymous.
BuffaloBillsMagic1 Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 I want to disconnect, I really do, but it's hard not to care. Maybe if I didn't give a **** this futility wouldn't be so painful. At least SU basketball starts soon, they should be top ten again....
bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 How do you think Chicago Cubs fans feel after over ONE HUNDRED YEARS of futility? I think I'll stick it out. I am also a Cubs fan I am a sadist
ALF Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 The one thing that really matters the most is that the next owner is commited to keeping the team here. A new stadium would make more sense then a $200 million + remodel.
