Bill from NYC Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 (edited) 1) I suppose that we won't be reading any, "Brad Smith sucks" threads today. The truth is, he is an asset to this football team. And when used properly, the wildcat is a good thing. 2) I was one who was quite fond of Justin Rogers. I saw big potential in him, and thought he was a value pick in terms of where he was selected. But the truth is, he can't cover anyone, ever. 3) Please Bills Fans, do take this seriously. On the opening play of the 2nd quarter, Kyle Williams dropped back into PASS COVERAGE. Kyle is a penetrating defensive tackle. There is NO scenario in which he should be in pass coverage. He, btw was standing alone in the middle, and they did give up the first down. Wanny is every bit as bad as Jauron. Perhaps even worse, and I never thought I would be able to say this. Sorry to repeat this, but he should be fired, and escorted out of the stadium, as well as Western NY. Maybe he should be escorted out of the country. He is as bad as anything I have ever watched. 4) I have been a fan, and defender of Dareus. Today, he was a virtual non-entity. He too is a DT who is supposed to penetrate. He did nothing today, and this is a real concern. And btw, Spencer Johnson was a limping non-factor. The two of them were literally sickening. 5) Fitz? He was in control of the game until he turned back into Fitz. As everyone knows, we need a real quarterback. And I hate to say this, because he really does give it his all. Today, he was doing great things. But he will never be good enough to get us to where we need to be. Sadly, this is quite clear. 6) If you hear that same sweet song again, will you know why? Anyone who sings a tune so sweet, is passin' by, Laugh in the sunshine, sing. Cry in the dark. Fly through the night. Don't..... cry no. Don't you cry, don't you cry, anymore. Sleep..... in the stars. Don't you cry, Dry your eyes, on the wind. 7) No challenge by Gailey on that clear fumble? People, help me understand how this can be excused. Gailey has no business being a head coach in the NFL. None. And I do like him. He would be a great OC, with a strong head coach to make the important decisions. 8) If anyone cares, Hairston had a great game in terms of blocking for the run, but his pass protection fell WAY off imo. 9) OK, this IS trite, but I did like the way the players responded when Rinehart got hurt. FJ, Fitz, and lots of other players truly did care. 10) Props go out to Spiller, Jackson and McKelvin. They played good, and mistake free football. I won't lie, I was waiting for McKelvin to do somethig f--ked up, but he did not. 11) I know that it will sound like b.s., 20-20 hindsight, etc., but I was screaming to go for 2. You see, I know this team. 12) Wilson was exposed too imo. How did he drop that int? HOW????? Sad indeed. 13) Don't quit my friends. I am not going to suggest that we are not out of the race. We more than likely are. But we are also in this mess together. 14) GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Edited October 21, 2012 by Bill from NYC
BuffaloBill Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Sad game for the Bills mostly for their fans. It is inconceivable that the defense would regress this season after being the focus of FA acquisitions and with heavy focus in the draft. If Fitz is truly the best QB on the roster then it is a very sad situation.
Greybeard Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 (edited) I also think Smith is an asset. I am not fond of the wildcat but I still think he can be used to an advantage. After 50 years, I have come to expect what happened today. But going into the season I could only think I was going to be really excited about watching the Bills when they went on D. I can honestly say, in those 50 years, I can't remember watching a D that was worse. The talent the Cowboys had on D in the early 90's must have truly been amazing, considering who their DC was. Maybe the other D coaches made up for it. Wade, I really miss you. Edited October 21, 2012 by Greybeard
BiggieScooby Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Let's focus on positives: Levitre, Wood, Johnson, Spiller, Fred, Byrd, & Gilmore are keepers.
Green Lightning Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Great post by OP - as usual. I happen to agree with every word (except the dry your eyes lyric) as I try and manage to salvage some joy out if this day.
PearlHowardman Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Sorry! But the opinion of someone in New York City doesn't matter to me! Buffalo/Southern ONT/Rochester/Syracuse/Jamestown. If you're a Bills fan from these areas they your opinion counts because you're in the Bills biggest fan base/regional area.
Bill from NYC Posted October 21, 2012 Author Posted October 21, 2012 (edited) Wade, I really miss you. Right on! If I owned the team, I would give Wade a blank check to run this defense. Sorry! Gray Beard Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Thank you for the posts. I have enjoyed reading them for years (I was a lurker for about three years before I signed up.) However, regarding point 7, Gailey as a good OC, I have to disagree. His play calling is a big problem. Was anyone surprised with an interception on a long, low percentage sideline throw to a covered receiver on third and short? They never learn. That play has resulted in many interceptions, and can be blamed for costing the team at least a few games over the past two or three years. He tries to get cute too many times, and doesn't seem to learn that he should stick with what works. The past few games he has finally realized that Fitz is a game manager and the key to success is runs and screens, but that doesn't excuse that play at that point in the game.
Big C Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 The fumble bounced out before Gilmore saved it. But I agree with everything else. Sad day for us.

If you're a Bills fan from these areas they your opinion counts because you're in the Bills biggest fan base/regional area. I am not sure if you're serious, but why even post if you are? What is your point? Shirley, you offer no insight better then Bills. Shirley, you cannot be serious thinking that location matters on being a fan. Shirley you have better things to do with your time then. And even if you are not serious, there have been many posters here commenting much the same as the comments you made.
DCBongo Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 This might just be me, but this feels like the worst Bills team we have seen since 1999. I know we have some talent, and that we should be better than the teams of recent memory, but I watch them and just have no confidence. As always, thanks Bill for your thoughts, in no particular order. Sanity in an insane world/
PearlHowardman Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Thanks for one of the strangest responses I have ever received! If you're in NYC or FL or CA, etc, then you're not feeling these losses like we do up here in CNY/WNY. Was the Bills game even on broadcast television in NYC? It was here in Syracuse - it always is!

I am in BFE NC and I still found a way to watch part of the game, and listen to the rest of it.
Nuncha Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 (edited) R U N the F'N BALL CHAN!!!!!!!!!!!!! The strengh of this team is RUNNING THE BALL, your QB stinks! Edited October 21, 2012 by Azucho98

I don't want to fight you, nor will I attempt to justify to you how much I care about, and how much of my energy and money I have devoted to the Buffalo Bills football team. Be well, my fellow Bills fan!

offsides#76FredSmerlas Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 The fumble bounced out before Gilmore saved it. But I agree with everything else. Sad day for us. I hate to burst your bubble but I went back on my tivo six times and it was a clear fumble. It was Buffalo's ball, no question. Gailey blew it. It should have been Bills ball and they could have run the clock. I was irate!!!
