jimmy10 Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 I'll be in Fairfax tomorrow afternoon and evening and am wondering where I can catch the game. I see there's a Bills Backers bar in Herndon, about half an hour away. That could work, but I was really hoping for a good place right in Fairfax. Let me know, or if Herndon is my best bet. Thanks!
JimBob2232 Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Crystal city sports pub is good. Not a bills bar, but a good place for football on Sunday.
PromoTheRobot Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Is Greavey's on Rt.50 in Falls Church still around? In DC go to the Laughing Man tavern on F St. PTR
Jasonp325 Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Greevey's or if you want a real Bulls experience, Jimmy's old town tavern in Herndon.
jimmy10 Posted October 14, 2012 Author Posted October 14, 2012 Thanks for all the suggestions... I'm in town for a work event in the evening and really need to be near the campus of George Mason.
1B4IDie Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 (edited) Thanks for all the suggestions... I'm in town for a work event in the evening and really need to be near the campus of George Mason. I live in the DC area. 30 mins away in DC is like 10mins away in Buffalo. GREVEY's is considered very close to the Mason campus. JIMMY'S. WOUld also be considered not that far away. Also Fairfax county police don't play. Don't mess around and get a Dui. "I'm fine to drive" in Buffalo is like you're going to jail in Fairfax. Both places are worth the drive. JIMMYs is an experience. Edited October 14, 2012 by Why So Serious?
jimmy10 Posted October 14, 2012 Author Posted October 14, 2012 (edited) That's funny. I've lived in major cities myself. My question wasn't "Hey, where can I get a load on and still drive to Fairfax without getting busted?" I have a work event tomorrow evening on campus at GMU. My obligations begin around 8, which makes seeing the whole Bills game AND getting where I need to be on time hard, unless there's a place to watch the game smack dab near campus. I understand that a DC 30 mins = a WNY 10 mins. I'm looking for an actual 10 mins. Edited October 14, 2012 by jimmyo
Ozymandius Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 There appears to be a sports bar right on campus: http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-rathskeller-gmu-fairfax
FitzShowUsYourTitz Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 (edited) Greevey's or if you want a real Bulls Bills experience, Jimmy's old town tavern in Herndon. Go Here! Not far away and way better. You will Love it! Edited October 14, 2012 by Cville Bills

If your event starts at 8 you'll have plenty of time. Unless it is a nailbitter.
disco Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 You've probably made your decision already, but Grevey's and Jimmy's are definitely the best Bills sports bars in the area. If you want the closest spot to watch the game, it's probably Buffalo Wing University which is the literal 5 minutes from campus that you were looking for. Not a Bills bar or the greatest place, but they'll have it on.
jimmy10 Posted October 14, 2012 Author Posted October 14, 2012 Thanks, guys. Appreciate all the pointers. Way better than a google search.
Numark Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 In DC go to the Laughing Man tavern on F St. I'll be there
HalftimeAdjustment Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Close to GMU there is a Greene Turtle sports bar in the heart of Fairfax city. I have not been on there myself but it is new and probably decent. About 15 min away is Glory Days on Nutley. Each booth or table gets a sound box. Grevey's is decent but at that point you are pretty far.
San Jose Bills Fan Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 I'll be there How will I distinguish you from all the other laughing men?
stevestojan Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Been to laughing man first game and last week. Great place for the game. Service is fantastic.
DC Tom Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Been to laughing man first game and last week. Great place for the game. Service is fantastic. How !@#$ing appropriate is it to be watching this defense in that bar?
