What a disgrace camp Romney is politicizing this recent tragedy. Just shows how the repubs have no floor how low they will stoop to undermine obama.

It's kind of a disgrace that Romney acts more like a President than Obama does.

Basically 0 chance anything suggested in the first topic is true. 1) Obama can't shrug off the Clinton machine, he knows this...as do we all 2) Obama can't put this on Hillary, he knows this....even if he could...not in the next month and come out clean by election day 3) No signs of Clinton publicly doing anything different. 4) Use common sense.

You keep telling yourself that, Skippy. The next three weeks are going to be Benghazipalooza in the media, and even a progressive like yourself knows the WH can't Anthony Wiener its way on this topic. The Obama/Clinton beatdown is a-coming...and when it does, we'll all remember Thursday night at the night Biden locked the steel cage for the big match.

Get your popcorn ready, kiddies. Hell hath no fury like massive egos scorned.

And the war came. And the president demurred.

The beginning of congressional hearings on the Benghazi debacle revealed an administration with much to explain and perhaps something to hide.

At a minimum, the State Department did not take adequate precautions in reaction to mounting threats after urgent requests by officials on the ground. This was a failure of judgment. It was followed by a failure of candor. Senior administration officials gave misleading accounts of the attack for days -- which was days after others in the administration must have known those accounts were misleading.

It is impossible for me to imagine U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice or Secretary of State Hillary Clinton freelancing the false claim that the Benghazi attack was the spontaneous response to a YouTube video instead of being a terrorist attack. So who briefed them with bad information? And why? Those are the loose threads in need of pulling.

But this is more than a scandal; it is a symptom. This is an administration that instinctively turns to any artifice -- any desperate, dubious claim -- rather than talk about an ongoing, escalating global conflict with radical Islamist groups. The likely involvement of Al-Qaida in the Libyan attack is part of a larger story.

{snip}

President Obama's response is, to put it mildly, paradoxical. He is perfectly willing to pull the trigger in a drone strike when he thinks it is useful. But he is strangely reluctant to describe the continuing terrorist threat in public. At their recent convention, Democrats danced a jig on Osama bin Laden's grave. But this was treated as an achievement of history -- like the execution of Tojo -- not as one victory in a continuing struggle. As a State Department official once put it, "The war on terror is over" since "we have killed most of Al-Qaida."

Hillary won't resign before the election unless BO puts this squarely on her AND Bill sees Hill as running in 2016.

Election is only 3 weeks away. No way Hillary or anybody resigns this close to the election.

But for giggles sake, let's say the heat is on and Hillary resigns. I don't think Hillary or Bill sits back and bites their lip. They'd unload the dirty laundry and deep-six Obama's re-election

Hillary won't stick around for another full Obama term. After the 2014 Congressional elections when Obama is the lamest of ducks, I suspect team Clinton will start talking

Klein writes that the long-simmering feud between Obama and the Clintons has only gotten worse after the Democratic National Convention. The bad blood between Obama and the Clinton family dates back to the 2008 Democratic primary, and Obama's advisers had to convince Obama to give Clinton a prominent role at the convention.

Klein writes “the latest quarrel began when Clinton heard that Obama was behaving so cocky about his first debate against Mitt Romney that he wasn’t taking his debate prep seriously.”

Clinton offered to give Obama some advice, and Obama brushed him off.

Klein writes “the former president was dumbfounded that Obama had ignored his offer, and his hurt feelings quickly boiled over into anger.”

“Bill thought that he and Obama were on friendly terms after the convention,” a source told Klein. “He couldn’t believe that the White House didn’t even extend him the courtesy of a return phone call. He concluded that Obama’s arrogance knows no bounds.”

There is no love lost between Obama and the Clintons, and they could mutually destroy their political futures in the days ahead. Team Obama could destroy Hillary Clinton's 2016 prospects by scapegoating her for the Libya attacks. But Hillary Clinton, by potentially resigning or pointing to evidence that implicates Obama and Biden, can just as easily torpedo Obama's chances at getting reelected.

Hillary would torpedo her own prospects in the process. She would take the blame within Democratic circles for costing them the White House and have problems getting support from the Party

This will be fun to watch. The Chicago political machine vs the Clintons. You don't !@#$ with either.

Your point is valid only if she has a desire to run in 2016 and no one knows if she does. If she does she'll probably just resign so she can focus on 2016 if she doesn't she'll still resign and could very well start slinging some very interesting mud.

She may not know if she wants to run. Politicians don't like to close a door too early and miss a future opportunity

Oh, they just !@#$ed up. I picture that cop from Menace smirking at Biden telling him "you know you just !@#$ed up, right?"

The Cinton's don't like Obama and would love a reason to kick him down a notch. The only reason Bill's done anything to help is to stay in the good graces of the party. If you'll recall, at the peak of his hype Obama and his rabid followers thought he'd eclipsed Clinton and he thought he didn't need to respect him. Now the hard reality has come crashing down, Bill's still the darling of the party, and if Obama gives him an opening to justify ripping him a new one, he'll be more than happy to take it. And once Obama loses, his legacy, beyond being the first half-black President, will be **** and Clinton will be sure to remind everyone how bad it smells. And Obama trying to take on Clinton in the battle of the ex-presidents will be like 50 cent v. Ja Rule, and Obama will be Ja Rule.

"Secretary of State Hillary Clinton took responsibility Monday night for any security failures leading up to the consulate attack last month in Libya that killed an the American ambassador, but she seemed to push back against claims of a cover-up, blaming the "fog of war" for the Obama administration's shifting explanations for the attack."

Yes...the 'fog of war' that lasted nearly two weeks after this incident. The 'fog of war' that everyone knew was BS. The 'fog of war' video that had nothing to do with a pre-meditated attack. The 'fog of war' that the Libyan president said 'had nothing to do with a video.' The 'fog of election season war' that prevented any reasonable conclusions.

"Fog of war" is "We're not sure what happened yet." It's not "We know what happened, it's this...no, wait, it's something else. It's always been the second thing. We never said the first thing. Why does everyone keep accusing us of saying it? Look, muppets!"

...and Obama looks like a weak little boy, letting mommy cover up the whopper of a mess he's made so as to protect the "perfect little angel" image.

Does anyone here believe that the decision to not have armed Marines protecting the ambassador and his people was made by Hillary? Or was made by one of her underlings that she's apparently blaming?
