Pete Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Classy move by the Marlins. I know Adam and he is a great kid from Guilford. He was an unbeleivable athlete at GHS- soccer(Guilford is routinely ranked #1 in nation at soccer), baseball, and basketball. Man I wish he would of hit a HR. That would be a great movie. But the crowd and Marlins were awesome. Great story! http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/8455034/adam-greenberg-strikes-pinch-hit-appearance-miami-marlins

BillsFanM.D. Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Classy move by the Marlins. Great story! http://espn.go.com/m...e-miami-marlins I concur. I've read a bunch of stuff about how this 'cheapens' the game and that's it's unfair to others. It's one at bat against a team that is also not going to the playoffs. It's a guy who was drilled in the head years ago in his only major league appearance.....and has since suffered physical ailments since. Great move, great story....and R.A. Dickey said it best. To paraphrase...."It was important that we treated this as a major league at bat." I.e. He gave no slack whatsoever and pitched to him like anyone else.
RkFast Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 If I was the opposing pitcher, Id throw a high, hard one and brush him back. Where is Don Drysdale when you need him?
SageAgainstTheMachine Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 I bet a bunch of Hollywood reps were lurking at the stadium just in case he hit a home run.
