Gailey, unfortunatley....he's got at least a four year deal and Ralph won't fire him and still have to pay him. Also, his coach budget will continue to give us unqualified coaches even if he did fire Gailey....Mularkey, Williams, Jauron, Gailey....wash, rinse, repeat. Nothing changes until Ralph passes.

fire chan but dont tell ralph

As long as Ralph Wilson owns the team and Buddy Nix is the GM, Chan Gailey is the HC for the next two years.

Yea, that's right! Until 2014 is over, and its 2015

Face it Bills faithful, we wait....

The plan is already in place with the GM situation. Ralph will not bring Polian back. It was a bitter divorce when the two split before. Doug Whaley will be the next Bills GM, but no idea whom the coach will be. I am a Notre Dame homer through and through, tbh, and would love to see us reach out to Bob Diaco. The Irish defense is one of the best in the land with some solid upper classmen, but an extremely young seconday. Every game this year Diaco has made the right calls and halftime adjustments to keep the Irish in games to be able to make a comeback or hold a lead. He is aggressive and creative with his blitz packages. One of the quick rising coaches in the football world because the Irish would never have made it to the BCS Championship without him at the helm of that defense.

It will most likely be Chan. :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: No other team in the NFL would bring him back for another season of futility. Here are some candidates in case Ralph actually fires Chan who I think we could get:

Bruce Arieans. With the Colts head coach coming back next year, Arieans has proven himself worthy of a HC job with what he has done w/ the Steelers as OC and the mess in Indy this year. Would love to see him turn the Bills around.

Bill O'Brien: IF he is looking to land an NFL job, a chance to coach twice a year against the Patriots may be intriguing to him. Also another head coach (at the college level) who came into a terrible situation and had success.

Billick: wanted the job before. Should have gotten it before. Perhaps this time he will.

COACHES I WOULD LOVE who we won't get:

Either Kelly (Chip or Brian...they are not related btw)

Bill O'Brien

Gruden

Brian Kelly!! The ND Defense is sick though, but I'm not sure taking a college coordinator is the right approach. Perhaps O'Brien leaves PSU, and Diaco goes there. Or he goes to Auburn, or Arkansas, I just don't see a coordinator to NFL jump. But if there was one, he'd be a good one to get.

OK first we must accept the Bills suck and no coaches want to coach here. We got laughed at by coordinators and college coaches last time we were looking for a coach. We basically settled on Gailey bc we couldn't get anyone else to come here.

So, we need to find a guy who will never get an opportunity elsewhere. That basically limits us to schitty coaches with a bad stigma. I don't think any OC or DC will want to risk there careers in Buffalo, so to me that means we go to coaches who have been an HC before and bring them here for a second chance.

Now lets think about our team. We have two stud running backs and a good young OL. We should have a good physical DL. Our QB sucks and is at best a bad game manager. So in conclusion, if we are going to build a team from what we have, we should bring in a run oriented HC who has had success with big bodies on the DL.

LUCKILY FOR US - there is a coach who fits that mold to a T. - TOM CABLE!! Its just crazy enough to work guys, here me out.

- He alledgedly beat his two ex wives, so no team will prob ever hire him as a HC again.

- He took a very very bad Oakland Raiders team to an 8-8 record in 2010, his last one as HC of that team. BUT - he was 6-0 in the division. If we ever want to make the playoffs, we will need to beat the Patsies.

- He is an OL guru, his teams constantly were tops in the league in rushing, 2nd best in the NFL in 2010.

- with our OL and running backs, we would lead the NFL in rushing.

- A running team would help our defense.

- His defenses got good pressure from their DLs, which we all know is the way to beat the Patsies.

- Again, he was 6-0 in his division in 2010.

Tom Cable is currently the OL coach in Seattle. Seattle's running game has been great under him.

Now, my vote for DC would be Mike Singletary. I love Singletary and I think he is perfect as a DC. He is currently only a LB coach in Minn. He may be a bit out of his element as a HC, however, If Singletary was HC and Cable was OC, that would be great too.

Its crazy but honestly, we aren't going to get a coach here that makes sense. No coach in his right mind would coach this sorry excuse for an NFL franchise, which is why Tom Cable is the perfect canidate.

Your analysis is correct that we may need a guy looking for a 2nd chance. Cable or Billick??

I'd say Jack del Rio but he's out of the Bills league.

With what the Bills can attract it's time to get on the Mike Tice bandwagon.

Are you F'ing nuts?

Jack Del Rio out of our league??? Who wants that dude?

Mike Tice ... he's a friggin TOOL and ineffective at HC.

No thanks to both.

Both are in same league as Chan ... average at best.

Based on some guesses regarding coaches who will be let go, we should be able to put together a very good coordinators from out of:

Mangini

Rex Ryan

holmgren

Norv Turner

Howver, I have no clue who will be a competent shepherd to herd the new bunch of cats.

Just bring in Brian Billick already. He's dying to coach again. Personally, I think the guys full of crap but he talks a good game and will bring much needed publicity to the Bills.

Ariens is interesting. I was impressed with well prepared colts were and their playcalling.

Any Buffalo coaching search is like parents doing their kids' school clothes shopping at yard sales. Just a bunch of hand-me downs that other people didn't want.

Nix won't wash away the existing coaching staff, and he probably shouldn't with a few exceptions. My guess is they promote from within and the Stache is the natural candidate, assuming they change at all. There are plenty of winnable games to lose left on our schedule which could force Nix's hand. This was supposed to be the easy part of schedule and we're making them look like Super Bowl contenders. The team morale couldn't be lower. They talk a good game about how they felt like they were prepared to win, but the results are constantly the same. The Billicks, Schottenheimers, and even Norv Turner are out of our league. Tony Dungy would be an inspired choice.

Curious to know what people here think about hiring Bill Polian as GM. I know the common thought is that the Polian/Wilson breakup was so bitter it couldn't happen, but based on many recent interviews with Polian, his Wall of Fame induction and related speech - they've long since patched things up.

So with the idea that it could happen, is this something people here would WANT to happen? Trying to win using regimes from the past usually doesn't work, but I do like the idea of Polian coming in to grab a franchise QB. He's picked some good ones in his past.
