I hope Mario doesn't turn in to another Haynesworth.

CBF

Except Mario already had a huge payday being the number 1 overall pick, and then went on to be the 24th (and youngest) active sack leader. Has anyone ever thought of that.

who cares what he makes we are so far under the cap......Ive been disappointed, but it's early in the season Ive always felt this D would not come together until November. I heard Matt Light on the radio talking about Buffalo went light with Barnett and Scott and New England just brought a power running game into the game and Buffalo never adjusted. Barnett is light and slow he can not take on blockers OR run anything down from the back side and it killed us. Scott is a safety playing LB you can use him in spots but every down just yells out to the Patriots WE HAVE A SAFETY PLAYING LINEBACKER they won't miss that. Lastly George Wilson at safety is brutal, this defense will never be a top defense with Wilson at safety he a liability in coverage and brings no crunch to his tackles, he hits like a punter.

he is getting paid like a game changer.

Maybe Coach Chan needs to call him out in the press. I would question how motivated the guy is.

No. He got paid because that was the only way to get him here. If other teams matched the Bills,he doesn't come here, just like all top FAs and coaches. Players \coaches will come for huge paydays or to try and keep their careers going a few more years.

Same here. He got manhandled in one play by Gronk. WTF. Gailey should bench his lazy a$$ next game to send a message. He's not freeing anyone else up because he can be blocked one on one. Chandler Jones would have been a better pickup than him.

There was some concern w injury with Chandler Jones, but if we could go back in time to the offseason I think we would take Chandler Jones and spend our money on the best FA corner on the market, and still have enough to sign Matt Flynn.

Biggest worry with Mario is that his salary number keeps us from retaining our core guys like Levitre and Byrd this year. He's still a decent player, but worth $4-5 M a year, not $16M.

Thats a joke. He is 24th and the youngest on the active sack list. He is a good player. $4-5 million are guys out of the league in a few years. You people have gone crazy. Overpaid maybe a little but all UFA guys are.

Our front 4 will be set for years to come if you people just relax a little and let it happen. I will say again, maybe we should get a linebacker that is worth a damn that other teams have to pay attention to.

These guys don't let the money go to their head. They have played for the kill all their life and thats all it's about now. They want attention. Has anybody seen any body get mad on our "D". No fire. Yelling thru the head set hasn't worked. We need a killer like Ray Lewis. Who is our leader?? Not Wannie. We need some leadership. Please!

I hope they learn from this game and start changing things up a little bit. Did you see Chicagos defense last night? Julius Peppers lined up in all 4 spots and switched back and forth and ran a million different packages. Once you become predictable in the NFL it does not matter what your talent level is. If you know whats coming, its easier then hell to defend....

Everyone knew Bruce Smith was coming off the left side and they still could not stop him.

I wonder where the "Ralph is Cheap" crowd stands after 4 games of Mario Williams? (Probably whining their A** off)

This is just another example of what is available in Free Agency. Another teams trash just became our trash. Houston knew 2 years ago he was on the downside of his career and that he would have to be resigned to an inflated contract. If the Texans thought he was $100 mil worth of special they would have planned for the cap space.

Teams are built through the draft. In the NFL you need all 52 guys on your team to contribute. Over paying another teams' junk ties your hands behind your back. It takes time and patience to repair a broken team like the Bills through the draft but its the only way.

Ok good point, but what now? The Bills have already made the mistake. They way overpaid for Williams and now this could put the franchise back for years. How do we get out from under a bust of a free agency signing? Do they cut him after the season if his production stays as it is now? They certainly won't be able to find a trade partner. Do we fire Nix for such a huge mistake? Maybe the money should be spent on a quality football people first, then worry about the roster. The problem now is how to fix this. What do the Bills do if Super Mario does not get any better than this?

Smith was best DE to ever play the game, how can you compare the two...Mario is not in the same league as Smith is.

It's not a huge mystery. When a player's sack totals are trending like this -- 14, 12, 9, 9, 5 -- you probably don't give him $100 million. Some free agent signings work out but very often, you end up paying out the nose for what he was, not what he has become or will contribute in the future.

come on... he was injured last year and averaging a sack a game at that point.

Actually The Bills moved Bruce around a bit...Especially when they felt they had a big mismatch...He still played the majority of Downs at RDE...But they moved him... B-)

Maybe Mario should start watching TV dammit so he can see what an ass he's making out himself with his lackluster uninspiring play. I bet we could have had Mike Wallace for a lot less than we payed this guy knowing what we know now.

Football's a violent sport and how a body holds up against that violence matters. Two consecutive seasons ending up on IR was another red flag. Also, some players are never the same after major injuries. Maybe this is another case of that.

Much like the other players on this team, once he got his paycheck he mailed it in. There's no reason to play hard in Buffalo. You don't go to Buffalo to win, you go to Buffalo to cash an easy paycheck.

He's guaranteed only through next season. After then, they cut bait and call it just a 45 million dollar mistake. Not the end of the world.
