zow2 Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Let's face it folks. Pitt came in to our house with a swagger and their 2nd & 3rd teamers out physicaled the Bills from start to finish. They out hustled us and showed everyone why they are 15-1. I'd be mildly surprised if they don't win the whole show. Who is going into Pittsburgh and knocking them off? They are a DEEP team. They earned my respect today. We are not at that level yet.

That's what was so disheartening was the lack of moxie, emotion and hustle shown by the Bills. We looked like we didn't know how to handle a big game. The Steelers did not have several of their best players and had nothing to gain. Pretty depressing stuff. No one is discounting the Steelers ability. We beat ourselves with poor play, penalties and bad decisions. Pittsburgh was very vanilla. We should have won comfortably.
Georgia Bill Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Hats off to the Steelers. No use making excuses - if their 2nd and 3rd stringers make us look that bad I am just glad the Steelers weren't playing for home field with their starters. That would have been seriously ugly. I think the Steelers win it all.
Rico Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 No doubt the better team won. I still think the Pats beat them.
cåblelady Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 I still think the Pats beat them. 189658 Bite your tongue.
Just Jack Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 No doubt the better team won.I still think the Pats beat them. 189658 Agreed and I hope not.
Steel4real Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 I think the patriots will have their hands full before they even get a shot at us. Unless by some mircle the colts choke at home against the Broncos. I see the colts giving the patriots a run for their money at Foxboro. IF they make it through that we will see what happens. Thanks for all the well wishes though. I hope we smack them around some as well...
KOKBILLS Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 No doubt the better team won.I still think the Pats beat them. 189658 And what does that say about our Bills that the better Team today was a bunch of Back-up's and 3rd Stringers with a sprinkle of Starters thrown in??? I agree on the Pats too...Until they lose in the Playoffs, they are the best Team in the NFL as far as I'm concerned...Though I do admit winning in Pittsburgh this Year will be the Pats biggest Playoff test to date...Still, I would not bet against them...

I watched the Steelers (starters), get into a cat fight with the mighty NY Giants a few weeks ago, and even though the Steelers won the game, you could tell that if you play a good game (not even a great one, just good), you can take this team down. You can credit some of our poor play to the Steelers, but the vast majority of it was our own doing. Bad passes by Drew, dropped balls by Moulds, getting flagged at the worst time..(time and time again), piss-poor play calling, turnovers deep in our side of the field, short punts, (do I even need to mention our FG Kicker?)....and lets not forget some really questionable play calling. You know, like 3rd and 1 in the 4th from about the 50 and instead of running it right up the middle we pitch it back about 7 yards to WM....of course the pitch went a bit further back then 7 yards. The Steelers have their 18th string defense in there and we don't run right up the gut for a yard!!! Do you know that today we got beat by a team that (especially in the 2nd half), put a roster on the field that was worse than the starting rosters of the Browns or the 49ners??? WE did not get beat today because the Steelers are a great team (altough as I said, they are a very good team), we got beat cause we played like sh**. THe Browns, 49ners, Phins, Raiders, Bears and many college teams would have also kicked our a** today the way we played. Looking back on it, even if we had won, I do not think we would have made it to the playoffs, and yes I know the Jets lost. However I saw the end of the Jets game and they tried a really long FG in OT which I believe they would not have tried had they really needed the game at that point. I think they would have punted and pinned the Rams deep, and at that point who knows what would have happen. So at least I will not be going to bed tonite thinking that the Steelers knocked us out of the playoffs. Lastly, we had a very good year, and won more games than most people thought we would. Our first year coach did a great job...better than our last coach for sure. Had we been eliminated from the playoffs a few weeks ago, but still ended the season with a 9-7 record, I think most people would have been pretty pleased with our season given it was the first one under MM. If we can continue to improve, and come out next year and start the season with wins a opposed to losses, we will be just fine. There, I feel better now. Congrats Steelers, good luck in the playoffs. And congrats Bills on a nice season, and great late season run.

gggbills Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Hard to argue with the facts. The Steelers came to play, the Bills did not! 189882 I concur. And by the way, when I say this I do not mean to take away from anything the Steelers did today, but the fact is we played a very bad game. In fact, had the Steelers not even gotten off the bus, I think we still lose that game!
drnykterstein Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Yeah, they outplayed us. This is the second worst loss of the seaon, next to that 2nd pats game. Guess we have some improving to do if we're going to beat the leagues elite teams.
KOKBILLS Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Guess we have some improving to do if we're going to beat the leagues elite teams. 189893 To Me...That's it in a nutshell... This Team, as is, probably makes the Playoffs in 2005...But then what?? One and out? The question is, what will TD and TM do in order to make a BIG step forward? Cause that's what it's going to take for this Team to be Championship calibre...A BIG step forward...
