Just Jack
I used to have one of those elevator keys, pretty easy to get if you know where to buy security equipment. It was just a standard lock key.
Chef Jim
And now the world knows.
/dev/null
Most IT shops don't bother changing the locks on their network cabinets either. So track down the keys shipped by various network cabinet makers, take a walk thru a building, and attach whatever device you want to monitor their networks

DC Tom
I just have a lockpick set. Big deal.
GG
What an absolutely craptastic article, even by NYP standards. Love this one The keys include the all-purpose “1620,” a master firefighter key that with one turn could trap thousands of people in a skyscraper by sending all the elevators to the lobby and out of service, according to two FDNY sources. And it works for buildings across the city. Trapped because elevators don't work? Plus, it's not like people can just waltz into any NYC high rise these days and get on an elevator. Those keys are probably #87 of things to worry about if terrorists want to strike a building.
Joe Miner
I advocate placing random keyless locks around the city on anything you deem to be lacking in security. Don't let the terrorists win.
Just Jack
If you decide not to get the keys, get these instead... http://www.ebay.com/...=item43afdca6ab You'll be able to open any elevator access panel and screw around with the wiring. So someone hits the button for the 3rd floor, and it goes to 5 instead. Or they hit the door close button, and it puts the elevator into service mode. (Disclaimer: I'm not actually advocating screwing around with the wiring, especially since some of it inside the panels is 110V AC or higher)
