PromoTheRobot Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 (edited) Seeing how many Bills fans went to Cleveland, and how many Steeler fans came to RWS pre-season, I bet much more intense rivalries would develop if the Bills were in the AFC North. We could swap with the Ravens. They would fit great in the AFC East. Comments? PTR Edited September 28, 2012 by PromoTheRobot
KD in CA Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Yes, that would have made a lot of sense. I for one wouldn't have cared a bit about changing divisional rivalries.
Chandemonium Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 I was thinking about this before the Browns game, and geographically it would make way more sense. I would support the move now if it had a chance to happen, even though I was against it however many years ago the last realignment was because I didn't want to give up the Dolphins rivalry.
K-9 Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 These AFCE rivalries go back to the AFL days and they are ingrained in my psyche. I'd be against it, regardless of the obvious geographic proximity to western PA and Ohio. GO BILLS!!!
Charles Romes Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Basically you would have a bunch of small market teams not getting much attention except for the fact that small market Pittsburgh is a small market team that through great ownership happens to be the most successful franchise in the league since the merger with 6 titles and consistently winning for four decades now.
Juice_32 Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Can you honestly imagine not playing the pats* jets and smiling dolphins twice a year though? I see what you're saying, but I just couldn't go for it. There's too much built up hate for the current 3 in our division.
drinkTHEkoolaid Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 (edited) Would love it. Makes perfect geographical sense. Baltimore should go east and bills in north. Edited September 28, 2012 by drinkTHEkoolaid
Malazan Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 At the time, there was a lot of opposition to it given the rivalry with Miami. That's died off quite a bit so I'd love to see it happen.
Meathead Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 i used to go to miami most seasons for the away game and that was kinda nice. but now that i dont go to fla anymore id rather it was clev/pit. theyd sell more tix too
TakeYouToTasker Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Hate it. Gotta keep the AFL rivalries alive, and I live for the day that the tables have turned and we beat the Patriots twice per year, every year, for the next 10 years. Realignment had better never try to take that away from me.
billsfan89 Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 That actually would be good, although I think separating the Ravens and Steelers would make a lot of people frown as that's been one of the better modern rivalries (Past 10 years or so). Still the Ravens would easily develop new rivalries with the Pats* (Who they already have a rivalry brewing) and the Jets (Who can pretty much be a rival with anyone). I wouldn't be opposed to the switch, but I don't think that the NFL is in the mood for any realignment. There doesn't seem to be any unnatural placements or need. But swapping the Bills and Ravens wouldn't be a terrible idea.
Bud Adams Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 I was thinking about this before the Browns game, and geographically it would make way more sense. I would support the move now if it had a chance to happen, even though I was against it however many years ago the last realignment was because I didn't want to give up the Dolphins rivalry. I love to hate those Dolphins, regardless of how bad they are. Just a matter of time before we start owning the arrogant asses at the Meadowlands. Against. BA
Offside Number 76 Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 I'm still pissed that the Colts aren't in anymore. I want 2x/year against Miami, NYJ, and the Cheats.
Ramblin' Rob Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 I am all for it! It makes sense for both the AFC East and north for Baltimore and Buffalo switch. On the rivalries, teams have rivals from other divisions(cowboys/49ers from the 90's, Colts/Patriots were post realignment) all the time, not a good reason to not realign. It would benefit teams on sell outs, and create natural rivalries.
MyHorseAteTheKid Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 I would like a geographic rival situation.. Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Detroit...
WhitewalkerInPhilly Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Well, it certainly makes sense geographically. But playing the Steelers and Bengals twice a year is a pretty trick proposition. At least we wouldn't play the Ravens twice a year...
Smiley Dear Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 I've always wished we played in the same division as the Steelers and Browns, but if the NFL were to realign along geographic lines, I think you'd see Miami go to the South, Baltimore to the east and Indy would move to the North. It just makes more sense geographically.
The Senator Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Just when the Cheatriettes* are about to enter a 10-year decline? No thanks. Now that *NE's period of dominance has been fully exposed as a total fraud, based entirely on cheating at every possible opportunity, I'm looking forward to a decade of payback.
Just in Atlanta Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Geographically, and culturally, it would make sense. No problem at all with it. Bills seem out of place in the AFC East.
hondo in seattle Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 These AFCE rivalries go back to the AFL days and they are ingrained in my psyche. I'd be against it, regardless of the obvious geographic proximity to western PA and Ohio. GO BILLS!!! Geographically, PTR's suggestion makes sense and no doubt we would develop new rivalries. But I have to agree with K-9, there's a lot of tradition in these old AFCE rivalries. In this case, for me, tradition trumps reasoned argument.
