Saint Doug Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 first the equipment mgr....now moorman...... OMG! No one's safe from The Turk! Pretty soon fans are going to be cut!
jimmy10 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 20012? Yeah, well, most punters have pretty long careers.
Formerly Allan in MD Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 They clearly liked Powell all along.
DPR4444 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I must admit, when I first read my text alert, I thought it said "Merriman" deja vu all over again
Saint Doug Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Wasn't he fairly decent at throwing the ball too? Couldn't we have kept for competitive purposes? You know, to light a fire under Brad Smith?
BillsGuyInMalta Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Man I just...I just feel like this is a move that bites us in the butt this Sunday. Like Powell will shank some punts horribly.
John from Riverside Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 This all happened cause our punt coverage sucks and our best bet is to kick out of bounds...sucks he gets cut because other guys suck at their jobs but can't replace a whole punt coverage team... Our punt coverage sucks? I thought they did a fair job on Cribbs......you know the most feared returner in the league?
Chandler#81 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Thanks for years of great punting, Brian. See ya @ the 25 yr Anniversary game for the clown uni's. Seriously, best wishes!
JPPT1974 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Wish him well and sure he will land on his feet again. Good luck to Powell!
Mike in Horseheads Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Lindell better be looking over his shoulder.
KOKBILLS Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 no one wants a practice player/gym all star gotta get it done on the field, and through three games Moorman has been pretty terrible Agreed...And I guess it's selective memory time for some around here...Because Moorman has had some terrible games over the past few years...He's no where near the Punter he used to be...Still a great guy though...
Matt in KC Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Lindell better be looking over his shoulder. Why is that where the snaps are going without Moorman there to catch them?
KOKBILLS Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Like Powell will shank some punts horribly. Right...We could have kept Moorman to do that!...
section122 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 This may only be me, but I have very little confidence in DeHaven. Even putting aside the Music City Miracle, he doesn't seem to be in the same league as Bobby April. I only say this because I wonder if DeHaven had a say in Moorman getting cut, or if Moorman's failure to execute DeHaven's calls (e.g., directional kicks) influenced the decision. I have been banging this drum since they hired him. He is no Bobby April that's for sure!
34-78-83 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Sorry, but I am far from ignorant and I completely agree with this move. Moorman is a good guy, but he can not execute basic punts like pinning the ball inside the 20 and coffin corner type kicks. As for your assertion that he has been a top 3 punter in the NFL for years, it simply is not true. Not once in his career has Moorman finished in the top 3 punters in the league. In the past 5 years, he has finished number 12, 10, 4, 11 and 8. His botched punt on Sunday almost let Cleveland back in the game. When he kicks long, they are generally line drives and very returnable. Powell is a very good punter and I believe at this point he will be an improvement over Moorman. We can agree to disagree on this one and I won't even call you names. 2005 - 1st in Avg and 1st in Net/ 2003 3rd in Avg - You still make valid points overall, just sayin....
MaineMoxie Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 OMG! No one's safe from The Turk! Pretty soon fans are going to be cut! I was cut 10 years ago, but I'm kinda like Milton from Office Space...
CherryCoke Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Does CJ Laboy represent any punters?! haha lets connect the dots On the other hand, If he represents Moorman, this wasn't the great day in buffalo he was hoping for
shrader Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 It's a real shame that the best punter we ever saw was stuck on those teams. I guess that's what it takes for a punter to get to his cult hero status.
iommi Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Watching Chan's press conference from yesterday, I thought he seemed a bit miffed with the kicking game (comes around the 6:40 mark). http://www.buffalobills.com/media-center/videos/Chan-Gailey-Monday-Press-Conference/82742f71-0c8a-4def-aa09-ac11889bac28
