Meathead Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 well moorman was in obvious decline starting last season and it had to happen eventually but i still feel like my dog died
Just in Atlanta Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 The guy has been one of the best parts of this team for years. So, he had a bad game last week... Surprising if it's true.
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 And for the record, it was thanks to yours truly explaining keyboard shortcuts to people who said they were busting their mouses clicking their browser's refresh button. Jimmyo, I say this without flattery, but when you sprung the F5 on us during the epic Mario Williams thread, it was like when Thomas Edison invented the lightbulb. Sheer genius, my man.
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Oh well... Glad we are focusing on changing around the punting game. With spiller, Jackson hurt, nelson on IR and 4 qb's 2 place kickers, it seems like the punting game is where the front office needs to target activity. I can't think of a reason this doesn't make sense.
Kelly the Dog Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I think I'm worried more about the PAT and FG holder than the punt job. I guess they must know they have one.
BuffBill Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 (edited) Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora Bills are releasing veteran stalwart P Brian Moorman. Surprise move. Have a feeling he might not be a free agent all that long. Wow. Yeah, he hasn't had a great start to the season, but this is still very surprising. That is shocking. The most questionable of all the questionable moves this FO and Coaching Staff has made since they have been here. If this is true, wait until November and December in Buffalo and New England, it will bite them in the ass. Edited September 25, 2012 by BuffBill
GOBILLS78 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 The guy who has seasons in front of me always used to yell "LET MOORMAN RUN IT!" whenever they lined up to punt. I'm not that guy, but I swear he could have ripped chunks of 30-40 yards against the Browns.
bbb Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Moorman was the best punter I have ever seen. I mean that in all seriousness. Some of those bombs where the returner had to sprint back and the camera panned back down the field.... Best I've seen, too.
West End Stench Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Perhaps this is making a big deal out of nothing, and if it is then please call me out, but the most unnerving part about this is having to find a new holder for Lindell. I can't think of a moment where Lindell and Moorman didn't execute the hold perfectly, even in lousy conditions. No doubt they had a great chemistry together that can only develop through several years of working together day in and day out. I'm sure the staff knows best, but I'm really bummed out about this. Moorman was one of the few guys in the last decade that I hoped would be a lifetime Bill. Thanks for the years of good punting, Brian.
KOKBILLS Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I'm glad they had the balls to do it. Moorman has been a shanker for quite some time now. Agreed...Great guy, but his skills have diminished yearly...And Powell has serious potential...Not surprised one bit...I was surprised Moorman made it on the Roster, though admittedly he Punted out of his mind in Pre Season...And lets not forget this Team is in a bit of a transition, especially since David Nelson is out...More running game, try to play tough D, field position.... It was time for Moorman to go...Best of luck to him...
nucci Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 So then who the hell is going to be the punter? Edit: Or the holder on kicks? Thigpen can hold for kicks
coseybedaman Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I dont believe this is true at all. if it is that is purely a shame. Moorman is a huge asset. Anyone who bashes him is ignorant. The guy has been a top 3 punter in the NFL for years now, a great holder for Lindell, and a great asset for gadget plays. This would make sense on no level at all. With the loyalty of the Bills with guys like Maybin, Easley, Mccargo, Troup, etc etc etc I can not even fathom that this can really happen. If so I think its disgusting.
Mango Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 2 kickers, no punter?...4 QBs? I am seeing potter miss some kick offs and there have been a few returns, nothing big but a few. I am finding this kick off specialist a little silly. pick one of them. Sooner or later BM would be gone. sad to see him go
Kelly the Dog Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Best I've seen, too. Me, too. Until about three years ago when he started to go into decline. He really has not been consistent for a long, long time. And again, I agree that he was one of the best if not the best punter I have ever seen for many years. Just not the last few.
zow2 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 This won't be popular in the Bills Lockeroom. Very weird to do it in-season, when he is healthy. That being said, I liked Powell in preseason. Kid has a big lively leg and is obviously on the rise. Better off developing him now then having to restart this process next season when Moorman continues on the decline.
The Poojer Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 thurman just tweeted ...wonder what he is alluding to At least he didn't find out on ESPN, but WOW. I know the reason he was released but @pthomas3434 won't let me say anything
5 Wide Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Heart says no, head says yes. Old dog cant hunt anymore
Bills!Win! Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Well, I'm selling my Moorman Jersey, anyone in the Rochester area want it? How much can i sell it for now?
