Nanker Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Yikes! Well, thanks Brian for all you did for The Bills. Good luck to you.
Billshank Redemption Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 pretty shocked he hasnt been playing that well but wow. Wonder if this is going to effect lindell at all since they were so close.
Owf71 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Our QB has had a slow start too...apparently is pays to be a "Chan" Guy
Cash Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Freddie's reaction: https://twitter.com/Fred22Jackson/status/250641435597086720 WTF??? Released Mooreman??? For What??
cantankerous Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Freddie's reaction: https://twitter.com/...641435597086720 WTF??? Released Mooreman??? For What?? For sucking at his job.
MDH Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 From Tim Graham: https://twitter.com/...640412438564864 Bills cut Moorman apparently for shaky games w/directional punts, which are called by coach. Powell's weakest trait directional/pooch punts. If I'm going to watch a guy struggle I'd much rather it be a young guy who can get better and not an old vet.
The Senator Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Well, since Moorman was going to be a 37 year-old free agent next season anyway, I gotta say I'm not totally shocked - except for the timing, and that they didn't keep Shawn Powell on the practice squad as I suggested they should back in August... link I'm assuming that Powell is still available and they've contacted or already signed him? (I know he had a try-out with the Jests after we cut him.) Let's hope Belicheat* doesn't sign Moorman tomorrow... GO BILLSSS!!!! 18 and 1 baby!!!!
Heitz Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Freddy seems less than thrilled, per Twitter "WTF??? Released Mooreman??? For What??"
Kelly the Dog Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Moorman has been disappointing, not entirely but for the most part, for three seasons. He was a GREAT player and punter and teammate for so long, but he has been far less than that for far, far too long. He had three bad punts, IMO, last game. He no longer can consistently drop the ball inside the 20 let alone the 10. I'm surprised only a little.
cage Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Awesome, now the Patriots can't use any of their film on Moorman. The trap is sprung; they have no idea what is coming on 4th down! Haha,... now that's good!
Billshank Redemption Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 sheesh I hope this doesnt affect the players too much. Idk, the front office obviously wants to win for once and I guess if they felt like they could upgrade the position in a game where field position is critical they were going to do it. Im going to trust them on this and hope its the right move.
JÂy RÛßeÒ Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Another interesting stat - he's had 6 punts go OOB but only 2 of his punts were inside the 20. The next closest punter only has 3 OOB punts.
Billy in 4C Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 In all seriousness, who will be our field goal holder? Moorman has done that for years. You now have a new holder who most likely won't be Fitz or Thigpen (about to be toast). Will it be Brad Smith??
biglukes Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Freddy seems less than thrilled, per Twitter "WTF??? Released Mooreman??? For What??" He apparently doesn't know his teammate well enough to spell his name right though.
Nanker Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 This won't help team unity. Nah. I don't think so. Any professional athlete that thinks there are untouchables on a club are sadly mistaken.
bills44 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Freddie's reaction: https://twitter.com/...641435597086720 WTF??? Released Mooreman??? For What?? FJ and "Mooreman" must be really tight.
RussellDopeland Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 This move is not at all surprising. His play has regressed the last 3 years; this year he's been nothing short of awful. Best punter in franchise history, but time to move on. And if anyone watched the Seattle punter last night (Ryan), it's evidently clear that Moorman couldn't come close to matching what he can do.
section122 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 From Tim Graham: https://twitter.com/...640412438564864 Bills cut Moorman apparently for shaky games w/directional punts, which are called by coach. Powell's weakest trait directional/pooch punts. I seem to remember some FSU fans saying he was strong at directional punting (Ramius maybe?) anyway here is a link that kinda confirms that became a proficient rugby-style punter, improving his directional accuracy while limiting returning opportunities
UConn James Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Moorman was by far the best player in the preseason. Very suprised by this. Looked pretty terrible last week though - there must have been some locker room stuff after the game - maybe a disagreement on philosophy or something. Doubt it. Moorman has always ALWAYS been a good soldier. This is entirely a performance thing. For the same reason a contractor can't keep on a construction guy who can't lift 4x4s after 11 a.m., I think BM hit a wall two seasons ago WRT his "touch" on pinbacks and power over the course of the season. That he had a good preseason may be owing to the offseason rest period. I don't think that punt where he outkicked his coverage this week that allowed for the returner to build steam and make a 30-yard return helped at all. Nor the return TD against the Jets in the opener, tho I was only half-watching at that point and I haven't seen replays to see what happened there.
