Fan in San Diego Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 wow, that seems like pretty good pay. How many hours do they actually work?
The Big Cat Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 wow, that seems like pretty good pay. How many hours do they actually work? More than professional athletes. Turns out when you're world class talent, you don't get paid "hourly."
DC Tom Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 wow, that seems like pretty good pay. How many hours do they actually work? A hell of a lot, actually. 70-80 hours a week isn't unusual. And your average symphony musician gets paid a hell of a lot less than six figures. Chicago's top-tier, salary-wise. Most would be lucky to make half that.

Chef Jim Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 The average for the SF symphony is about the same. But I always wondered what the union symphony "roadies" that come out between pieces and move a couple of chairs and the grand piano around make.
