BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- The Buffalo Bills are closing in on a deal to extend their series of playing regular-season games in Toronto.

''We'll be having an announcement on that,'' Rogers Communications vice chairman Phil Lind said Friday. Without providing a timeline, Lind said ''It'll be soon.''

Bills CEO Russ Brandon said discussions with Rogers are continuing, and added: ''We hope to announce a new deal in the near future.''

The Bills and Rogers, the Toronto-based media giant, already have NFL approval to extend the series once it expires after this season. Brandon said last week the two sides are expected to meet in early October.

The extension is expected to be similar to the previous one, lasting five years and having Buffalo playing one annual regular-season game in Canada's largest city. It's unclear whether preseason games will be included in the extension.

Does this have a positive or no impact to the future of the team staying in buffalo? I understand the stadium lease is the most important, but this is a nice sign right? I may not know enough of the detail on what would make it easier/harder for a future owner to move

A definite positive. Anytime the Bills can open up new revenue streams to make the franchise more valuable IN PLACE, it makes a Buffalo football team more financially competitive and thereby making a new owner less interested in moving.

The time to worry is when the Bills can't (or worse) won't expand their market!

2 in Toronto and 6 in LA. Just kidding

If I'm NYS I don't do anything with Ralph renovations or the lease until I see this deal.
