Over 29 years of fanhood
Its a cute story, but this doesn't necessarily make him penny wise. A 6-8 week OEM refurb on a 23 year old foreign car might actually prove quite costly in parts and labor when you include navi and Bluetooth they are adding. The admirable part is his intent, "staying grounded." But frugal would be trading in in for a newer but still old 626 which would be @ $3k and likely better fuel economy. This is more symbolic, which is nice just not frugal, a cute story and does contrast the Vince Young types that are in liquidation mode after blowing it all. Mango
There was an article on Gronk, "the last happy man" or something like that - said he invests every penny he's making through football, and lives off his appearance fees. Described him as living in a barely-furnished middle-class condo near the stadium, wearing some of the same clothes he's worn since highschool. Smart moves for a guy people describe as kind of dumb. Not that he isn't making tons of money with appearance fee's, but wasn't it just a year or two ago he tweeted a picture with him and a porn star at his apartment. I think he is living a little higher than middle class, and not the most responsible guy with his money, maybe better than some in the league, but the guy is clearly enjoying being in his early 20's with some money,

ICanSleepWhenI'mDead
http://www.thepostga...ack-controversy Montana and Young brought disparate skill sets and outlooks on playing the position of quarterback to the field. . . . The difference in their athletic strengths and weakness, however, couldn't compare to the difference in their backgrounds and demeanors. In every way imaginable, Montana epitomized his nickname, "Joe Cool." On the football field, he was never rattled, whether in the face of a blitzing linebacker or a twenty-eight-point halftime deficit. And out of uniform, the bluecollar Catholic Western Pennsylvania product, was equally relaxed, as he drove one of his sports cars -- by the late 1980s Montana owned a Corvette, a BMW, a Mercedes-Benz 500 SEC, a Porsche 928, a Ferrari 308, and a Ferrari Testarossa -- off to go and have a beer with or play practical jokes on his buddies. Young -- a Mormon from Connecticut who despite millions of dollars in the bank drove a beatup 1965 Oldsmobile Cutless until it died with more than 270,000 miles on the odometer -- displayed an unwavering intensity. Young did that despite signing what at the time was the richest contract in athletic history: http://news.google.c...pg=3494,5017265 Edited October 28, 2013 by ICanSleepWhenI'mDead
Wazzu Bill
Gio Bernard drives his fiancee's mother's minivan It was on the tip of my tongue that I read that somewhere....thanks for bringing that up. Bernard seemed real down to earth. Now that he made the team and will likely get resigned I'm sure he'll fork over the cash for his own car though lol
bowery4
No body mentioned Ralph's car? Car has been restored and returned to Morris... http://wheels.blogs....-91-mazda/?_r=0 http://jalopnik.com/...le-1-1445704648 What I find interesting about this is this quote here Brown’s was unable to get some of the original exterior trim pieces, Mr. Rodgers said, but when they contacted Mazda, it turned out the company still had the original molds in Japan and made a few one-off parts for the car. 3d printers are going to change everything.
