He launched w/ his head and speared the guy...dangerous to both players. Fair...next...

Have u ever been on a football field ? It's just another play........ anyone in Tate's position does the same. I don't think Tate's in any danger there at all.

I have and it's called spearing. It's dangerous. That clip could be shown to every HS kid in America as "what to never do."

Led with his head....

Should have led with shoulder....

I dont think it was his intent to hit like that. Remember these guys work more on route running and catching balls then learning how to hit correctly in open field.

It was really clean, anyone who played football knows you gotta watch out for blockers, you never lock in just the ballcarrier that's how you get taken out. The block was textbook, it wasnt a spear you are taught from day one of football that the best way to block is to get low and use your hips and full body and jack up thereby knocking down a defender who is too high. A spear is LEADING with your hea,d you can see him roll his hips and jack up. Looks slightly the same but very different

Sean Lee was running straight up, that's another no no. That is just not being football aware we hear it alot but it is for a reason. KEEP YOUR HEAD ON A SWIVEL. A football play to block for a QB.

Plus you have to square up with somebody to properly throw a block. Hitting with your shoulder is a CHIP, and defenders are taught to slide right off of those

You can't launch into another player and use your head as a weapon. End of story. You might think of these guys as otherwise useless meatsacks put on this earth for no other reason than to entertain you with their eminent brain trauma, but the NFL has decided that your position is ugly and meritless, and have thankfully chosen a rule set that treats their players like human beings, and recognises the fragility of the human brain. If you don't like it, turn off your TV. Edited by TakeYouToTasker

He lead w/ his head man. I don't think he meant to do anything bad, and nothing bad happened, but what you see in that clip is a spear. Plain and simple. He put everything into it yes...but that doesn't change the fact the top of his helmet is what all the energy came out of. Anyone who watches can see that...it was not a good hit and it's the kind of hit football at all levels needs to get rid of.

More goodell nonsense.....there was no flag on the play and it was a legal hit

Powder puff football will be the new nfl in 5 years......such nonsense

Just bc there was no flag doesnt mean it was a clean hit with or without the replacement refs

He launched and led with his head which is an illegal hit plain and simple

how was it a launch? watch his feet leave the ground after initial contact, the same time of the defenders feet. That's happens alot because of the force of impact, the head was not lead with. was it directly in front of the body? no, maybe ever so slightly.

Incorrect. From day one you are taught to hit with your eyes up, not with the crown of your head as Tate did, and to get your head across the body hitting with the front of the shoulder pads, not to spear a player on the chin with your helmet.

He hit w/ the top of his helmet that's why it was a launch/spear. Are you seeing what I'm seeing?

His feet left the ground and his initial contact was made with his head to the head of the man he hit.
