Virgil Posted September 15, 2012 Author Posted September 15, 2012 After looking these places up, I think we are going to try Gabriel's Gate. Reviews look good. Any thoughts about non-food activities? Also, I think we are going to try to swing by Hammer's Lot before the game. Is there a good time to swing by or, not to sound stupid, way that you all recognize each other?

Is there a good time to swing by or, not to sound stupid, way that you all recognize each other? If the weather is nice... Take a walk on Bird Island Pier... Yet, past the Peace Bridge it has been closed for about 2 years... Want to be adventurous, just hop the fence. Disclaimer: Don't get yourself and loved one washed down the Niagara River... I am not to be held liable for this post. http://buffalo.ynn.com/content/top_stories/588527/grant-for-bird-island-pier-repairs/

Is there a good time to swing by or, not to sound stupid, way that you all recognize each other? Look up chef's restaurant too! For non food or non bar ideas there is a big thing going on in the harbor for navy week and anniversary of war of 1812. The naval park is really cool to see. Also other ideas are albright Knox art museum, see the falls duh, casino, tour some architecture, rent kayaks and tour waterfront on the water, go on miss buffalo cruise, walk around and shop either on the elmwood strip or in village of east Aurora
GoBills! Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 No chop house recommendations... The steak and already shelled king crab is mouth watering....yes it is very pricey but you can get an amazing meal...
Hammered a Lot Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 In the village of Orchard Park this weekend is one of finest arts/craft shows in the US of A. My wife and I would go and brows, she would show interest in a piece and we would move on to other booths. I would slip back to a booth where she saw a piece that interested her and Xmas time.........
Kipers Hair Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Toronto. Unless you wife is from the hamlet of Dolgeville NY, it's become apparent that Buffalo have little in the way of big city entertainment to anyone. As far as I can tell, there is nothing to do here besides eat (local foods only...and dont tell me how great the Chop House is....it's not), play smoe golf and go to the Bills game..then go home....
WhickedWilliams Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Left Bank is also good. Mothers is great & Fat Bobs is fun! Gabriel's Gate / Duffs for wings 100%. Mullberrys - Italian. But Allen Town is more hip at night verses Chipp. It's an older more mature crowd, not always 18-21 year olds drinking where drama & meatheads are the norm.
Garion Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Just today I was at East view mall in Rochester and was happy that Victoria's Secret had Bills clothing. That's the best way I've found to get her a hoodie and pants Awesome. Honey I have your Christmas present picked out

Not true...if just the wife and I , a day could look like this. Morning Albright Knox Lunch in Elmwood Village Shopping/strolling Elmwood Village Self guided Architecture tour(lots of places to get info) Quick Coktail on the Patio at Libert hound in what promises to be great wether day Stack that up with a lot of other cities And what's even better is I am taking bunch of kids on a hike and fishing in the Gorge tomorrow..so best of both worlds at your fingertips
djp14150 Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 In town the night before the game. We've done the falls twice and the wait to get into the original wings joints usually is terrible. Oh yeah, she's also preggo so drinking isn't an option You could always do duffs...either location in mherst or near the airport.
Charles Romes Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Eat at "Mothers", best place in the city. Small nice intimate, and pocket friendly on the $. I have to agree. A classic Biffalo establishment. Near where JP lived. You can show your wife why JP thought the city was so cool.
bigc14120 Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Chef's. They have fantastic Italian food and sauce. Very reasonably priced and its a local buffalo icon. Yes, an icon, and you will see lot of buffalo's police in there eating as well. Parking across the street!
Offside Number 76 Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Do I even want to know what tempo is? Tempo is a very nice modern American restaurant on Delaware Avenue. I don't know too much about what is near where you are staying, though. Chef's. They have fantastic Italian food and sauce. Very reasonably priced and its a local buffalo icon. Good Lord, no. We want his wife to enjoy her time here. Chef's has "fantastic Italian food and sauce" if you're German, Irish, or a tourist. The food, actually, is quite horrible, and they actually ask you if you would like your spaghetti "parmed." Think about that. The owner is one hell of a nice guy and a great community participant, but that is NOT Italian food.

If you want great Italian food, you go to the greatest restaurant in WNY: The Como, on Pine Avenue in Niagara Falls. Anything else is second best.

Anything else is second best. Madness. Illio dipalos or tinas Italian kitchen are both superior. Others love mulberry but its not my favorite. And the best Duffs is the OP location
