Pete Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 (edited) So I gave up TV and posted this http://www.amazon.co... Touch of Color TV for sale. I asked for $1200. Someone offered to swap a mid 2010 Macbook Pro 500gb hd and 2.45 memory core dual 2 processor. I like the thought of downsizing and mobility. And if I watch something its on the computer. Is this a fair trade? Should I ask for anything else? I am strongly considering Edited September 14, 2012 by Pete
nemhoff Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 What is the screen size and quality? I love my macbook pro...and would seriously consider that swap

truth on hold Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Why did you give up TV? After Sundays game you have to ask?
Jim in Anchorage Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 After Sundays game you have to ask? Doesn't help. I watched it on a internet site and it was just as bad.
Pete Posted September 14, 2012 Author Posted September 14, 2012 Why did you give up TV? life is much better without the idiot box

Is this a fair trade? Should I ask for anything else? I am strongly considering Your TV is a 2009 or 2010 model, you can easily find brand new 55 plasmas with 3D and better specs for $1200. I'd say your TV is worth 5 or 6 hundred bucks, which I guess seems reasonable for a 2 year old mac book. It is tough with how fast technology changes, but I'd assume Mac holds its value longer then a PC.
KD in CA Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 life is much better without the idiot box The internet has just as much idiot; just a smaller box.

It is tough with how fast technology changes, but I'd assume Mac holds its value longer then a PC. This is about right. Both devices are about the same age, and neither are worth $1200 as that is their value when they are new. Fair trade. Or fair enough trade, at least.
Fan in San Diego Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 If you need a Macbook I would pull the trigger.
UConn James Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Yep, yocash old do depreciation research on the MacBook, but on the face of it, I'd say that it's probably a good swap (you'll also stay out of paying taxes, as if Malloy needs more of our money to piss away). The prices on teevees have come down LOTS. For what I paid 900 clams for a 40" in 2009 you can now get better specs for like 600. We cut the cord for cable/sat ~20 years ago now and do antenna-only free teevee, heavily PBS, and since we upgraded with the HDTV, Netflix.
