I heard on the radio that the administration knew without a doubt that it was a terrorist attack within 24 hrs of it occurring. I'll try to confirm, but if proven, this could be Obama's "Waterloo".

Please. Even if it were reported, it wouldn't stick. Obama makes Reagan look like the Velcro President.

Obama's Libya Lies Collapse: Senate Democrats Demand Answers

The wheels appear to be coming off a two week attempt by the Obama Administration to cover up its fatal security failures at our consulate in Libya and to cover up the very fact that this was a successful pre-planned terrorist attack that cost four American lives, including that of our Libyan Ambassador, Christopher Stevens.

Not only has the scandal picked up steam in the mainstream press (Jake Tapper's ABC News report tonight

), but high-ranking members of the President's own party are now demanding answers. This includes the man most often cited as a likely Secretary of State should Obama win a second term, Senator John Kerry:

Senate Democrats joined Republicans Thursday in questioning the Obama administration's handling of the fatal Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya and why the administration refused for days to acknowledge that it was a terrorist attack linked to al Qaeda.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee, chaired by Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., circulated a bipartisan letter addressed to Deputy Secretary of State Thomas Nides, asking for an "accounting of the attacks against U.S. missions in Egypt, Libya and Yemen," according to a copy obtained by The Washington Examiner.

The lawmakers are also demanding to know whether the administration had any advance warnings of the Libyan attack and, if so, whether it had shared that information with U.S. personnel on the ground.

The letter marks the first time congressional Democrats have so directly expressed their dissatisfaction with the administration's response to inquiries about the attacks, which resulted in the death of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others and raised questions about U.S. security throughout the Middle East and Northern Africa.

This could get ugly for Barry. Real ugly.

It's only going to get ugly if someone reports it. No one pays attention to what John Kerry says beyond those who follow politics every day. You need more Jake Tappers and less people talking about free Obamaphones for this to get real ugly.

Looks like it's gaining steam, if ABC News is reporting on it.

US consulate attack in Benghazi 'disrupted major intelligence operation’

The attack on the American consulate in Benghazi in which the ambassador to Libya was killed seriously disrupted a major intelligence operation based there, according to briefings by Washington officials.

A large number of Americans whose existence was unknown to Libyan leaders were evacuated from Benghazi even as fighting around the compound continued.

The new briefings admit they were involved in CIA or other intelligence operations targeting Islamist activity in the east of the country, as well as securing some of the more dangerous weapons with which the country is infested.

The revelations are being used by Islamist leaders, currently on the defensive after the attack and a subsequent backlash by secular forces which saw some of their bases stormed over the weekend, as justification for their anti-American rhetoric.

Nothing to see here, folks. It was just all about a silly video.

http://thehill.com/blogs/global-affairs/middle-east-north-africa/259677-report-libya-consulate-subject-to-previous-threats-attacks

Two House Republicans say they have been informed by whistleblowers that the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi was attacked and threatened 13 times before the incident last month that killed four Americans.

Reps. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) and Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) sent Secretary of State Hillary Clinton a letter on Tuesday that detailed the whistleblowers’ allegations.

“Based on information provided to the Committee by individuals with direct knowledge of events in Libya, the attack that claimed the ambassador’s life was the latest in a long line of attacks on Western diplomats and officials in Libya in the months leading up to September 11, 2012,” Issa and Chaffetz wrote. “It was clearly never, as Administration officials once insisted, the result of a popular protest."

The congressmen said the consulate asked for more security to deal with the growing threat but was turned down by the administration.

Meanwhile, Jake Tapper of ABC News reports on new evidence that the Obama State Department declined to provide diplomatic personnel with security adequate to meet the perilous conditions of Libya — the country which, by percentage of population, led the world in sending jihadists to fight Americans in Iraq.

Foggy Bottom denied its Libyan embassy’s request to keep a DC-3 airplane, which embassy personnel had been using in order to get around the country more securely. The embassy said they still needed it; Washington decided they didn’t. If the president’s name were Bush, and Madame Secretary’s were Rice, this would be a story that never left the front page.

But they are Obama and Clinton . . . so it’s not even a story. It’s the Benghazi stonewall, and the media want you to know they’ll get right on it the second after they’ve dragged their guy across the finish line.

We'll see. Saw this from WaPo Ombudsman; "We screwed up on coverage of the Benghazi story and won't let it happen again."

You know they must have been heavily criticized to publish this. Will they now take the incident more seriously, now that it's become clear that the WH left Christopher Stephens to die? It's not a story a struggling publication like WaPo can afford to ignore any more. Based on the way any Tom, DIck or Harry have been able to saunter into the area Stephens was killed and find sensitive documents and his diary, etc., it won't be long before this blows up on the WH...and there has to be a moment -- before the election -- that the press will look at each other and think "Okay, we didn't expect to be THIS dirty."

Basically, that said "It's our fault, not Obama's."

It was Barry's fault for instructing everyone to parrot "it was the movie, it was the movie" because they wanted to keep the perception going that no terrorist attacks occurred on his watch and his policies have been creating peace, when everyone and their grandmother knew it was a terrorist attack. WaPo and all the other liberally-biased members of the MSM however are at fault for their coverage of the story and ignoring what everyone else knew.

A DC-3? A 1930's vintage airliner? Seriously?

That's the real scandal. At least get them a couple of Hueys...

The DC-3 obviously wouldn't have helped them, but this is the more damaging part:

But the question – both for the State Department, which is conducting an internal investigation, and the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, which is holding hearings next week – is whether officials in Washington, D.C., specifically at the State Department, were as aware as they should have been about the deteriorating security situation in Libya, and whether officials were doing everything they could to protect Americans in that country.

“The Obama Administration is afraid to admit al Qaeda is running rampant throughout the region because it would expose the truth instead of what President Obama so pompously spouted during the Democratic Convention” said the official.

The president said during his nomination acceptance speech that “al Qaeda is on the path to defeat,” an assertion contradicted by the group’s rise in the region.

The administration, in particular, wants to keep hidden solid intelligence showing that the terrorist group behind the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks that killed nearly 3,000 Americans is now flourishing under the Muslim Brotherhood regime of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi.

Egypt was among the locations of Obama’s 2009 so-called “apology” tour, when the president criticized past U.S. policies based on what he said was “fear and anger” that prompted actions “contrary to our ideals.” He also promised “a new beginning” for the U.S. and the world’s Muslims and a radical shift in U.S. policy.

The rise of Islamists in the region instead has produced a surge in anti-American protests and riots, culminating in the terrorist attack on the Benghazi consulate."

"We tried to illustrate...to show them how dangerous and how volatile and just unpredictable that whole environment was over there. So to decrease security in the face of that really is... it's just unbelievable," Wood said.

The State Department official says there was a "constant conversation" between security details in Libya and officials in Washington D.C.

Sources critical of what they view as a security drawdown say three Mobile Security Deployment teams left Libya between February and August in addition to the 16-member Site Security Team on loan from the military. That's 34 highly-trained security personnel moved out over a six month period."
