truth on hold
Great all we need; another what about the crusades/Spanish inquisition voice here to justify a act of violence committed in the name of Islam two day's ago. Give me the Christian "body count" particulars please. No Jim, no one is saying violence today is justified (no one worth listening to anyway). But at the same time there's a game being played of dismissing the provocations coming out of America because it's not a crime of equal caliber. Bad behavior doesn't follow some kind of hierarchy whereby only the worst is called out, and de facto all the lesser crimes are excused. The makers of this film and others in the popular media like Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck are constantly fanning the flames and instigating tensions, far removed from the blow back, with bank accounts swelling by the millions. They're like the obnoxious kid on the playground who instigates a fight between others, and then gets off watching the bloodied combatants. Something tells me you'd be plenty mad at the instigator in that case. Edited September 15, 2012 by Joe_the_6_pack

Glen Beck is fanning the flames in Egypt? Really think about about what you saying here.

Nanker
Are Christians storming embassys now? Are hindus beheading non believers now? Surely the Mormons must be killing in the name of religion now. What about the Jews are they burning flags and praising God? Oh no?? None of those are happening? Hmm so you mean it's only 1 religion responsible for this violence....hmmm Well to be fair, I think members of the LDS church ARE boycotting "The Book of Mormon" play on Broadway, and a lot of Christians got upset at Andres Serrano's "Piss Christ", and the "Elephant Dung Madonna". And YOU are supportive of this, and have sympathies for, this disgusting motive for rage against us. BTW, Obama, Hillary and Jay Carney have all clearly supported the motive of these animals by the condemnation that video. That video is the essence of free speech, of the principles this country was founded on. This administration is condemning free speech. It's amazing how liberals who were once the "freedom of expression" party have all of a sudden become huge supporters of the thought police. There is no "freedom of speech...BUT". This is America, this is a free country, love it or leave it. Edited September 15, 2012 by 1billsfan

I open with saying its not justified and anyone who says it is is to be dismissed, and thats how you respond? So you disavow the word justified but claim America [ including Beck, who I am sure gets top ratings in Egypt] provoked it so if not justified then what word are you looking for? Understandable? Expected? Over a film? Again, would you storm the Egyptian embassy over a film made in Cairo? That is what you are defending here, so I guess you would. drinkTHEkoolaid
You're sh*&ing us, right? Of all the arguments you could make, this is the one you choose? If you're comparing the number of dead bodies created in the name of their God, Christians win in a landslide. It's not even close. We're talking genocides here -- more than one. Conveniently leaving out over a thousand years of history just to win this point is just nuts. Holy shi*&t this was a ridiculous argument. What's ridiculous about it prove your point. I'm not comparing the Moor invasion or the crusades. I'm speaking of modern civilized times. How you are comparing 12 centuries ago to today to prove "see its all religions" is stupid. Prove me wrong.

You just don't understand, Jim. Joe Six IQ condemned the killings. His motives are pure and above reproach. The fact that he spent the rest of the pargraph defending them doesn't negate the one sentence he can later quote to prove whatever new premise he chooses. The only thing missing from his post was the obligatory mention of "Myth Romney" and his evil underwear.

B-Man
And yet the WH, flat-footed and resolute, continues to insist murderous mobs are just hysterical movie critics. Anti-western violence gripping the Arab world has little to do with a film FTA: Anti-western sentiment is rife in the Arab world. Germans, British, Danish – all are deemed guilty for the colonial crimes of the past and present. The US, of course, is perceived as the most arrogant of all, with 50 or more years of perceived bigotry, support for Israel at the expense of the Palestinians, sanctions on Iran and occupation of Iraq. Barack Obama's Arab honeymoon was squandered by drone attacks on Pakistan and Yemen and his impotence over Israel. As Salman Rushdie wrote recently in the New Yorker about the people who led the fatwa against him: "As for the British Muslim 'leaders', whom, exactly, did they lead? They were leaders without followers, mountebanks trying to make careers out of her brother's misfortune. For a generation, the politics of ethnic minorities in Britain had been secular and socialist. This was the mosques' way of getting religion into the driver's seat." So it is with the Salafis. Very few of the people setting fire to the German embassy in Khartoum, attacking the American school in Tunis or torching a KFC in Beirut will have even seen the Innocence of Muslims. If the prophet had really been insulted, you would see 100 million in the streets. Instead we only see a few thousand. .http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/sep/14/embassy-attacks-salafis-jihadists Edited September 15, 2012 by B-Man
3rdnlng
Yes, we can speak frankly. I'm not gonna blow myself up taking you with me.LOL! Oil will always be of use and in demand. Period. But I do agree with everything else. The problem here is every single regime in the middle east is corrupt. moderate Muslims are rarely seen and rarely heard from. Those are the facts. They'll never step in, because they simply can not. Hell, every government on earth is corrupt, why do you expect their's to be any different? Bob Marley said it best, "people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off..." Just look at the economic warfare that has been waged against the American people by their own government. The question you have to ask yourself is this. Are those countries a threat to anyone else? No, they're not and never will be as long as we keep an eye on them for nukes. The whole middle east's infrastructure can be destroyed in a weekend and you know it. There are far worse things going on in the world than the middle east. Our focus and attention is in the wrong place. Yes, oil will most likely always be in demand. I'm not sure exactly how it could be done considering oil is a world-wide commodity, but it has recently been reported that we have more oil & natural gas reserves than all of the middle east. I would not be against our federal government colluding with big oil to insure cheap energy in the U.S. I would also not be against our federal government subsidizing big oil to flood the market to the point that the middle east gets to sell its oil when and at how much we decide. Screw patrolling the Strait of Hormuz. If the ambassador killers want to restrict the flow of oil, we'll show them what open spickets look like. This a win-win for us. If the people in the middle east are worrying about their next meal they won't have much time to worry about some **** filmaker and we don't even have to use any of our cheap oil patrolling their coasts. All we have to say when they get a little rambunctuous is "Open the spicket a little bit more Mortimer".

Nanker
I applaud NoJustice for his condemnation of the violence, and like others here am glad for his level headed stance. I have Muslim friends who feel much the same as he does. There's got to be a way to get them into peaceful coexistence with the West. This kind of thing cannot be tolerated. It's disgusting. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all started in that area. Why aren't all of those traditions equally respected and why don't they have a rightful place there? It has become clearer and clearer that a certain % of Muslims though believe in violence and killing as a response for even the perception of a slight. When you add in Sharia Law and the disgraceful treatment of woman it doesn't take a giant leap to figure out what is wrong. I don't want to hear the "small minority" defense either. If it is such a small minority, the vast majority of level headed Muslims should be able to neutralize the small minority of killers, terrorists and low-lives. Either the vast majority takes back their religion or they deserve what is increasingly being said about them.
