l< j Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Two very enlightening breakdowns of the Jets-Bills in 2011. The first shows how the Jets schemed to confuse Fitzpatrick, and then how Chan adjusted in the (much better) 2nd game. http://www.buffaloru...yan-fitzpatrick http://www.buffaloru...versus-rex-ryan Didn't see these posted. Most of the football media focuses on personalities or story lines that really don't reveal much about the game--Don Banks is among the worst: "I have a feeling that so-and-so is going to have a big year, based on the steely look in his eyes" or some such blather. So I really appreciate this kind of breakdown. The chess match should be fun this weekend. kj
K-9 Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Thanks for posting these links. Good stuff. I wish we knew what the down/distance situations were for the plays he discusses. That's the key to beating a Ryan defense. Any defense, really. But Ryan's especially. Football is nothing else if not a game of match-ups. For that reason I agree with the writer when he says we'll see more of the single back, 2 TE sets on Sunday. GO BILLS!!!
yungmack Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Excellent analysis by Galliford. Thanks for posting.
Matt in KC Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Thanks for posting, and... bump. It's great to read some real analysis! There's questing in the comments if Fitzpatrick is poor at play action. I tend to think he is; it seems to be a bit slow and awkward, below average. It seems like this is another mechanical aspect of his game he could work on.
Charles Romes Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 The adjustment for the second jets game was pleasing. But chan and fitz had no answer for most of last year.
