stevestojan Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 How great is this show... did anyone just watch that? Please don't knock reality shows in this thread, as this show is just plain awesome. Good for ABC for finally putting something worthwhile on the tube.
Corp000085 Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 I've seen a few of them from last year. Haven't watched it in about 4 months though. I like the show though. Monster garage and american chopper on discovery rule too.
IDBillzFan Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 S-hit...you really have me worried now. There must be SOMETHING in this world you can do that does not involve the television set. That way, when you want to talk about something you consider great, you won't constantly set the high bar at "Extreme Makeover" or "American Idol." Given that you like to wear your life on your sleeve with this board, might I suggest an outdoor activity to break your viewing habits. Getting outdoors and trying something new would have a number of excellent benefits. Aside from the health aspect, consider that the real world would help you realize that: 1 - Selecting Manning with the fifth pick in your FF draft was a bad idea 2 - Giving a division rival a second round pick for a coke head two days before the second round of NFL cuts is another bad idea. 3 - Bush and Kerry didn't lie about WMD. 4 - Someone might actually see you wearing your hat backwards and suggest you might look more normal if you turn the hat around. Just some suggestions given that you like to constantly share these things with us. Turn off the tube and mingle with humans, dude.

Yoho Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 So far today, stevestojan has promoted Jim Rome and Extreme Makeover as outstanding examples of American entertainment. And he wonders why I don't respect his opinions on matters concerning the Bills..........
PIZ Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Just watched it last night about a family of 8 children. Their mom and dad died a year ago, and died 2 weeks apart. It was an awesome show and it actually brought a tear to my eye.
Campy Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 The Home Makeover show is good, appeals to the emotions and the handyman Bob Villa that dwells in all of us. Those damning the program would be best served to actually watch it first. It is good stuff.

I love TV, and will not ever back away from that. I am a couch potato, and personally love it. I get out. On the weekends. Now, to address your points: 1 - Selecting Manning was a risk, but I was at near the end of our draft line, so I knew the next round I could get two quick picks 2 - We will get our #1 pick back by trading Henry or Willis. Giving up a 2nd rounder for a guy that helped turn a team around last year is not too extreme, especially seeing as though we were getting desperate. 3 - Lie? Maybe not. But, you obviously dont have friends or family in Iraq fighting this war that was started under false pretenses. Lets get our boys home. 4 - Attacks on my picture? I thought you were above that. You dont attack, remember, "only children attack". The reason i Put it up was someone said they would like to put a face to a name with everyone. Post your's you overhyped Radio Shack salesman. The yellow RCA cord is for video, right? Just figured I'd ask the expert. Oh, and about sharing personal stories: if that isnt the pot calling the kettle black, I dont know what is. So, I sat around and took your little pot shots for the past couple weeks, but this is enough. Maybe if YOU took a little time away from this message bored you could maybe spend some time with your wife - ya know, the one bearing your child. I have time to sit in front of the TV or computer. Im 24, single, and lazy.

The two oldest took on all responsibility with house payments, caregving, etc... ABC hooked them up... that's all. Sorry the feature you have on your computer that forces you to read every one of my posts was turned on, and made you read this.

Thought maybe someone else saw that ABC was actually putting something of Value on the tube...

When I asked why, he said he and the wife hadn't had the time to do their own remodel. I told him flat out they would not make the cut. Watching the shows, you can really see that ABC is going for the ones that if you were their neighbor, you'd want to be helping the crews working on the house any way you can.

When I asked why, he said he and the wife hadn't had the time to do their own remodel. 14321 I think your buddy is missing the point of the show ... And I'm sure there are those out there that will say ABC is doing it for the good press, and I'm sure they are - but you dont see NBC doing it, ya know? I mean, I know they are busy with having people eat cow intestines on Fear Factor, but Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is a quality show. And they should have thought about using a different name. I mean, from people that only say or heard of "Extreme Makeover" where they re-arrange someone's face, they may think this is just some big over the top rebuild of someones house just for the hell of it. Well, last night's, the "before" house had one shower for all 8 kids.. 7 girls and one boy ... that poor kid.
Just Jack Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 I've been watching the show since it first came on several months ago, now the ones you're seeing are repeats. Anyways, you know it's a good show when Fox copies it, they're now advertising "Renovate My Family", similar concept, everything done in one week, but instead of just doing the house, they help out the family also with their "issues" like weight loss, or quitting smoking, etc.

The thing that pisses me off is FOX has decided to rip the series off. They are starting their own version of the show tonight.

Just Jack Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Find out for yourself.... Renovate My Family on Fox

Im 24, single, and lazy. 14296 Y'know something Skippy, you have the sense of humor of a wet mop. I wasn't attacking your picture, I was making a joke, and I surely did not criticize you for posting personal stuff. I simply said if you're going to post it, then people like myself are going to react. You're right, I should know. A lot of people here still call me "Mock." It's funny. It's a joke. Why not laugh? But I can't help it, S-hit, cuz you're as predictable as Frank Burns. All anyone has to do is breathe and you're running around hoping Margaret will make things better and telling people they obviously work in retail...as if that's a bad career choice. And while we're at it, the range of my professional career and accomplishments are so far beyond anything that you and your "I get to sit behind my computer all day and get paid for nothing by a porn company" capabilities will ever, ever understand. If you're going to hold up someone's career as a litmus test for their value in this world, you need to come up with another insult, Major Burns, because accusing people of working in retail when you have some menial hide-in-a-cubicle job that doesn't care what you do all day is really not clear thinking. On the other hand, you ARE predictable and how can anyone resist a completely predictable person? By the way, I'd post a picture of myself, but I'd like you to someday try women first before you start stalking me. Lighting up, Major Burns. Take the joke. And you may call me Hawkeye from now on. Who wants to be Honeycutt? Do I have any takers for Honeycutt?
AiO Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Who wants to be Honeycutt? Do I have any takers for Honeycutt? Oooh! Oooh! Pick me! Pick me! Wait a minute...I don't think I can live with name of BJ. Carry on.

I prefer to go live my own reality rather than watch someone else live theirs.
