Rico Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 But he's white! And his name is tank! Now who are all of the white, overweight, middle-aged, "blue collar" Bills fans on this board going to relate to and cheer for? Their perennial favorite, Chris Kelsay.
Lv-Bills Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 I understand that's the argument, but if he can't really play any of those positions better than a street free agent, I'm not sure I buy it. For me, he's worth keeping as a 3rd and 1 specialist, but I can easily see the other side of it. Most people don't buy it. Smith is friggin horrible. Quit apologizing. There is no way this team is better with Smith on it instead of a guy like Roosevelt. Smith is the worst QB. The worst RB. The worst WR on the roster. I would rather have TT stay as the #3 and Roos on the team. Hell, Smith isn't even the #5 WR, because Spiller is also ahead of him. He's a total waste of space. And spare me the wildcat crap. Can the dumbass wildcat, stick Freddie and CJ in there, and run the ball like all of the big boys do. Guess what, Jackson or Spiller would convert as well. Did anyone see how timid Brad Smith on kick returns? The only good thing about this is that at least we are talking about guys who don't see the field much. We grossly overpaid for Smith when we got him, and most people thought so. Hell, even those of us who thought we overpaid for him at the time, even thought he was a tad better than he is now. He is a wasted roster space. And I'm not a Roosevelt apologist either. I think we badly need a #2 WR.

Most teams figured that out already, its a gimmick and its time is over.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 So far I see Tank Carder, Dwan Edwards and Marcus Easley. Mods, feel free to pin. Was hoping he would make the final roster but he should go to the practice squad.

Outright cut Brad Smith & he will go straight back to the Jets and be a major contributor to Bills' losses... again. I say keep him, I think he can still be $ on a good, playoff-caliber team.
John from Riverside Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 I guess I am the only one that thinks the more time Brad got with the WR/s last year the better he got......since we cut easly and hagan he is one of the few wr's with size we still have on the team I guess I am the only one that thinks the more time Brad got with the WR/s last year the better he got......since we cut easly and hagan he is one of the few wr's with size we still have on the team
Buffalo Barbarian Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 After looking at the final roster, what did the Bills see in Bradham over tank or Mckillop. Also how does Carrington make it over Gilbert. I think they really cut their DL depth to keep guys like Dorrin Dickerson and Mcgee who is on his last legs and should have been cut. and keeping 4 QBs is dumb Outright cut Brad Smith & he will go straight back to the Jets and be a major contributor to Bills' losses... again. Replace Tebow, who is 20 times the player Smith is for what they would be used for? For KO returns in which there aren't any anymore? He would probably go somewhere one more time on name alone and then banish from the league. Stop this Smith nonsense already.

Kelly the Dog Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Why does anyone think we are keeping Tyler Thigpen for any length of time?
DrDawkinstein Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Why does anyone think we are keeping Tyler Thigpen for any length of time? What else would we gnash our teeth, shake our fists, and "RabbleRabbleRabble!" about?

I hear you about the KO returns, nevertheless I tend to like players who step up in the playoffs, and not have much use for players who regress or fail in them. That is why I have no use for a Jacoby Jones, Billy Cundiff, Lee Evans, or Peyton Gump. On the other hand, I have seen Brad Smith make nice plays for the Jets in the playoffs, and I like having those kinds of players on my team.... if the Bills do make a playoff run, I think he may be able to contribute to their success. And I still do think he would be back on the Jets in a heartbeat for those very same reasons.
Shoto Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Good. I'm sick and tired of hearing so much about a player who has done absolutely freakin' squat. Good riddance. Amen Brother
Reed83HOF Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Why does anyone think we are keeping Tyler Thigpen for any length of time? It depends on who is out there when they decide T-jack is ready to play. 1.) If we short term IR someone after Sept 4th and fill that spot with an FA, Tyler could get cut when said player is removed from IR. Such as if Brooks does have a 10-12 week injury, we sign a CB to replace him and decide to keep the FA instead of Tyler due to another DB injury. 2.) This weekend most of the cuts from today who are worth anything will get placed on the Practice Squad or signed with other bubble players getting cut. After week 1 all of the vets will get signed so their contracts don't get gauranteed. Assuming it is 2-3 weeks out at the earliest, not much of anything significant will be left. A straight up season ending IR will open a roster sport regardless. I am afriad that cutting Thigpen after week 2 will allow us to possibly resign a Hagan or Roosevelt type player. No one respond with TO or Chad or Plax - if we wanted them it would have happened already. Stallworth killed someone and I promise you Chan or Nix won't take him. I can't forsee a scenario where we would dump him unless someone could make a significant impact for us.

Not only has he played lousy but he will never play unless there are two serious injuries, and he offers little upside. There is inarguably other players that could help us more, whether it be at CB, or LB, or WR or OL, or any other place where a player got hurt. Put it this way, if Tavaris Jackson had been here for a month, do you think there is any chance that TT would not be cut already? Chan is going with three QBs, he's said it a dozen times, and Brad Smith is #3. The ONLY reason TT is still on the roster, is because Tjackson isn't up to speed yet. As soon as he is, Thigpen is gone.
54 Percent Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Carder is missed because people liked his story. He'll be "ok" somewhere else. Doesn't matter who we cut anyways. We have Mario Williams.
