I'm not sure you can generalize to "people" but certainly the thread title shows the OP has fascination with the nickname

That a wide majority of people that care

Carder is a stiff, slow-footed white dude with a cool name. If he was named Larry, and black, no one here would give a rat's a$$ where he ended up.

What if his name was dick and he was hispanic?

Tank Carder is picked up by Cleveland Browns

Don't know how good the guy will ever be, but as I stated in another thread he would not last 2 days on the Bills PS before being picked up by some other team. He must have some talent to be drafted in the 5th round and then be snapped up as quick as he was.

And by that, we must have more talented guys, eh?

LOL about your story of your friend. I'm sure that's true for some.

Re the PS thing, I would say the same about Bradham and White at this point - they are backups, they aren't ready to be on the playing field. They make some good plays, they make some poor decisions and get fooled and turned aside from the play. The same is true of Shep at times, though he's further along. It pretty much IMO has to do with being a young NFL LB.

What's unusual to me is drafting a guy in the 1st 5 rounds, then cutting him. It's unusual - usually a team gives a draft choice more time to develop. Look at all the time Easley and Carrington and Moats and Troup have received - Moats certainly wasn't ready to play his 1st year and only sparingly his second, Shep wasn't really ready to play last year and he's going to struggle at times this year.

I don't think the decision to keep Bradham and White and cut Tank has anything to do with superior starting readiness as LB. White is proven as a ST player and I think Bradham > Carder there.

The decision to cut another LB may have less to do with Tank's actual ability (or lack thereof) and more to do with the Bills making several unusual roster decisions, including the decision to keep 4 QB and a kickoff specialist as well as (what's listed as) 3 TE, and also to currently have 2 DB who are injured or coming off injury on the 53 man roster.

I think to enable the above, they probably cut a couple of guys they would have preferred to have kept.

Then again, they could have decided the draft evaluation was flawed and Tank didn't have something they thought they saw when they made the pick. *shrug*

First off i don't think a young 5th rounder warrants keeping a roster spot unless he's exceptional in practice or pre season. As to your comments about Easley, Troupe, Carrington, etc.... They were all 4th rounders or higher so I think there's a difference. I have always believed the following:

1st round- instant starter, sometimes depending on position. For example, WR or QB not always the case.

2nd round- usually a starter after a year or sooner.

3rd round- usually a starter by the end of year 2.

4th round- not necessarily a starter by year 3 but at the least a good backup and producer.

5th thru 7th rounds- a shot in the dark. At this point it's lucky if you find a diamond in the rough. Can't count on these guys for anything except having more guys for the offseason to try out. If you hit on the pick like Stevie, Kyle Williams, Fitz, Fred Jackson type of guys then great but it's not expected.

That's just always been my opinion. Not saying he can't or won't make it with any team but the odds are against him.

Roosevelt on the other hand has my mind boggled especially considering we only have 4 WRs going into week 1. I don't count Brad Smith because I don't think he's any good and now he's injured and for how long?

Wow, this coaching staff can't develop talent for s#!* !

Very few players come into this league ready to play. I thought the whole point was to acquire raw talent and make them better.

I'm all for taking out the trash, but for F%#k's sake, make sure it's actual trash first. Of this team's many disturbing trends, this one bothers me the most. Why even bother drafting at all?
