I think he was signed to their active roster. He's not listed on the practice squad.....which has 8 names on it. Good for him.

To be claimed off waivers, another team must sign the guy to their active roster. Esp. since Miami also claimed Carder.

Carder is a stiff, slow-footed white dude with a cool name. If he was named Larry, and black, no one here would give a rat's a$$ where he ended up.

If he's such a stiff, slow-footed white dude then WTF were we doing drafting him in the 5th?

And what do you call Chris White?

The comment about his name, race, in addition to his story really does hold true.

Huh, and here I thought it was just an ignorant racist slur, myself.

I agree with your point about him being around the ball, and also agree about seeing him make bad decisions.

I think that's kind of characteristic of young NFL LB though - they make bad decisions, they learn, they move on from those days.

I thought he had the guts and the drive to make it, and the instinct for the ball that is hard to coach.

I don't think the Bills drafted him because he's stiff or slow footed (or white), or because of his "cool name".

Chris White may not be the most agile or athletic guy either. However, he doesn't have a cool name at all. "Chris" and "White" aren't catchy. If his name was "Chainsaw McDonald" people would be clamoring for him to start.

Chris White is a bit bigger and more physical, but not much else. If either had to see the field other than special teams, White would get the nod, which is why he is still here.

He was a good story, seemed fan friendly, but I don't think he was better than what we have

Obviously that's what the Bills thought, too, or he wouldn't have been cut.....

The more physical part perhaps. Bigger, not hardly.

With respect, I think you've got it backwards; I think White stayed because he had the edge as a proven ST contributor last year and Carder wasn't doing as well on ST

wrong he was one my picks before the draft, The Bills went with potential over production hoping that Bradham will be better bc he's a ripped black dude.

What is with throwing draft picks away?

GM missing players that were there, just like 2010 draft

I thought Bradham was kept solely on the basis of his superior ST play. He was a ST stand out at FSU. Don't know how he was doing with the Bills but it had to be good enough. Certainly worth keeping an eye on.

Why do you say that? They felt Bradham and Morrison were the better backups right now, and White must give them something they don't see in Carder - I'm betting ST.

Why is it bad, why is it gone to worse?

No no for TANK.

Bad = getting cut

Worse = getting signed by the Browns

Just trying to state that i have a mild understanding for the game, internet smartasses are a dime a dozen online and i see here is no exception.

with all due respect to your football playing career but just as you make comments about knowing the position, you assume others here don't know about players or positions. It just insinuates that nobody here has no idea what they are talking about because they didn't play the position in High School. It really is just as rediculous as others ragging on Carder.

I don't think the Bills drafted him because he's stiff or slow footed (or white), or because of his "cool name".

I don't think that either. Nor am I a racist. I don't think he is terrible. I think he is worthy of a PS spot but not good enough (at this point) for a spot on the 53 man roster. I do think however that he is so popular (maybe not with the informed posters here) because of his name and his story.

I'm with a friend tonight that has stressed how upset he is that we cut him but admits to not know about his play. Was asking me if he was actually any good. He stated that he knows of him because of his story and his "cool" name. Saying "you just don't cut a guy on your team that's name is Tank". It's first hand proof that there are uninformed people out there that really have no idea about him but think he's great.

That's all I'm saying.

Are you suggesting that if people realized "Tank" is actually Ricky Carder Jr they wouldn't mind so much that Ricky is now a Brown.

I heard on the radio that Tank Carder was picked up by the Browns. That makes me mad. I wanted him to make the squad.

Could you clarify what made you mad? That the Browns picked him up, or that he wasn't good enough to crack a mediocre LB corps here?

This is correct

Hilarious and true!

This is correct if he were Larry Black from University of Northern Alabama no one would care but he is Tank Carder from TCU.

In great white LB hope news

Why aren't people more pissed about taking Mike Jasper over Mark Herzlich.

Mark Herzlich actually played well and had NFL size and speed pre cancer.

Plus the whole Recovery angle and feel good story with Roswell in Buffalo.

It was such a no brainer.

I wanted that pick.

He would look really good over our current mess at MLB.

Just trying to state, IN JEST, that 9 years is a long time to complete high school, and that you would be approximately 23 years old playing against teenagers.

Wow - why so harsh?

Please don't tell us you were pinning playoff hopes on a 5th-round rookie.

LOL Yesterday people are ripping the Bill's for dumping Edwards a vet, now they get ripped for "throwing draft picks away". Guess they can't win either way in some peoples eyes. He's a 5th round pick, the fact that they are dumping those types of picks shows that the team is getting better, they have more depth.

Exactly. Just how many fifth-rounders have hit is big for us? Kyle Williams, John Kidd. Any other names come to mind?

Asper to th Vikings.

From the reports I read, our OL coach is not too upset.

NFL.com has White at 6'3" 238 and Carder at 6'3" 237. Yep, so much bigger. Sorry, but all linebackers are physical.

LOL about your story of your friend. I'm sure that's true for some.

Re the PS thing, I would say the same about Bradham and White at this point - they are backups, they aren't ready to be on the playing field. They make some good plays, they make some poor decisions and get fooled and turned aside from the play. The same is true of Shep at times, though he's further along. It pretty much IMO has to do with being a young NFL LB.

What's unusual to me is drafting a guy in the 1st 5 rounds, then cutting him. It's unusual - usually a team gives a draft choice more time to develop. Look at all the time Easley and Carrington and Moats and Troup have received - Moats certainly wasn't ready to play his 1st year and only sparingly his second, Shep wasn't really ready to play last year and he's going to struggle at times this year.

I don't think the decision to keep Bradham and White and cut Tank has anything to do with superior starting readiness as LB. White is proven as a ST player and I think Bradham > Carder there.

The decision to cut another LB may have less to do with Tank's actual ability (or lack thereof) and more to do with the Bills making several unusual roster decisions, including the decision to keep 4 QB and a kickoff specialist as well as (what's listed as) 3 TE, and also to currently have 2 DB who are injured or coming off injury on the 53 man roster.

I think to enable the above, they probably cut a couple of guys they would have preferred to have kept.

Then again, they could have decided the draft evaluation was flawed and Tank didn't have something they thought they saw when they made the pick. *shrug*
