Kevin Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 (edited) Dwan Edwards per shefter and Buscaglia via twitter. Edited August 31, 2012 by Simon
Captain Hindsight Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 little surprised there but I guess his pricetag was a bit high
MARCELL DAREUS POWER Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 yeah, i knew when dwan was playing late in the 4th and spence was not, alex or heard was going to be safe
MattM Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 I was hoping they'd be able to trade him. Good luck elsewhere, Dwan.....
Wayne Cubed Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Square peg in a round hole. Also never really lived up to his salary.
jahnyc Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 The Bills have no depth at defensive tackle other than Spencer Johnson, and Williams is coming off of a significant injury. Cutting Edwards is a mistake. Neither Carrington nor Heard should be on the regular season roster.

Brainiac72 Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 i don't think that saves Carrington... Jenkins or Heard is in. Dwan seemed to play well in training camp then made no plays once games started.
CBD Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 i disagree, but okoye is available Okoye signed with the Bears
nichebiche Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 jenkins? Kris Jenkins coming out of retirement?
Brainiac72 Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 jenkins? sorry gilbert. i have no idea why, but i keep doing that. maybe it's cuz of janoris jenkins and jaron gilbert? no excuse, lol...
BillsGuyInMalta Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Nick Barnett is not happy about Dwan being let go. NickBarnett @NickBarnett Absolutely disappointed if what I hear about Dewaun Edwards is true!! Can not have enough guys on your team like him!! I too think this is a mistake. The Bills do not have great depth at DT now with only Spencer Johnson as a viable backup. Bills were well under the salary cap for the season too so that "benefit" of releasing him means nothing.
JM57 Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 perhaps his salary really didn't have anything to do with it. Like was said above, square peg in a round hole. He's been a 3-4 DE his entire career. At least Carrington, disappointing as he may be, was a 4-3 DE in college, and obviously Spencer Johnson was a 4-3 DT during the end of the Jauron era (shudder) so it could just be a scheme fit issue more than talent or salary.

I think Edwards, Gilbert and Heard are interchangeable. You save money by releasing him from a position he was not going to excel at.
John from Riverside Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 I tink Dwan is gone because the bills are high on Gilbert and Moore.....
