No one else is signing an old corner with a bum knee. We can always resign him when he's healthy if we miss him . Shhh that is too much common sense. You bet he would be signed even for a few games of productivity by a playoff team with a corner injury or two. One key part of the rule that has been overlooked: That player has to be "designated for return" at the time he's placed on IR. In short, teams can't wait and see what players recover faster. For this year only, the league made an exception to the rule because initial roster cuts have already started. The Green Bay Packers, for instance, could "reactivate" linebacker Desmond Bishop from IR before Aug. 31 at 9 p.m. ET.
