Everybody should stop defending their own conservative leaders on the issues of "family values" and "good wholesome conservative values." Instead of raising hell every time people say they're crazy about that stuff sane republicans should say "yup, they're crazy about that but I'm still voting for him." Some want to ban R-rated movies, porn, force people to sit idle on Sunday, etc. A lot of these guys are no different in principle than lefties in that both want to impose their will on others in areas that are none of their !@#$ing business. What gets me is when one person makes a comment, it's misconstrued, and it's then applied with a broad brush to every Republican. Akin is a good example - The guy says something stupid, everyone agrees it was stupid, but because they agree with him on other aspects of the issue it is assumed as fact that they necessarily agree with his every word. Birth control is a better example - Conservatives defend the Catholic church's right to abstain from providing birth control to employees and all of a sudden they're against birth control.
