I'm not expecting much. Still aren't game planning, and probably playing around with different things, so don't really have an opinion.

Next week is when I'll really pay attention.

Starters only (I don't care about how the backups look at this point):

I'm expecting the offense to look like they have met each other before and have played the game of football before, unlike the previous game.

I'm expecting the defense to build on their decent showing last game and dominate a little more on the D line.

I don't expect much from preseason games other than better performance than the prior week.

I will pay attention to the linebacker corp, left tackle, the 3rd running back battle, and the QB play.

Good list!

I expect K Morrison to take it up a notch with a superior game (esp. in tackles) to Moats.

Cordy Glenn will win kudos for his play vs. Allen. I hope we see Hairston and Pears in at an early point vs. their ones.

I think Johnny White solidifies his grasp on the last RB spot. Choice won't.

Bills will take a long long look at Thigpen tonight, do or die.

I am expecting a big game from Vince Young and a quarterback controversy on Saturday morning.

Just got this feeling deep inside my stomach but it could be just gas.....

Also, sacks by Shawne Merriman and Mario Williams.

I believe it will be a much better game then last week with a lot less penalties.

I'm expecting that the 20 plays that they say the starters will play won't nearly be enough, coupled with more offensive futility with the jury being out defensively. I'm curious if the first team D will log a sack against a 2nd-year QB after allowing a rookie to remain all but unscathed.

I expect to watch a fuzzy, frequenty interrupted, jerky stream on-line that has a high possibility of being shut down by the NFL police, that can also includes many attemps to try and get me to buy porn.

Good times man...good times.

Anyone got a slingbox they are willing to donate? :bag:

If you're suggesting a starting QB controversy, anyone who has seen them play knows this won't happen in any way. Fitzpatrick is by far the best QB on the team, and it's not even close. This year's camo made that very apparent, and while Vince young may be a gifted athlete, there are many factors of how the offense is run, and what opposing defenses are doing that VY doesn't possess, and this year Fitzpatrick just looked more accurate, and threw a better looking pass. I'm not a Fitzpatrick bandwagonner, I just see him has the best player right now...

i'm expecting the bills to come out and engineer situations on both offense and defense to see how specific players react in certain situations, to narrow down some of the fringe positional battles.

i'm expecting chan to run the same, very basic offensive sets with vince and thigpen, that utilize 4-5 wideouts, to have film on how they're going through their progressions.

i'm expecting the starters to play 20 plays, the backups to get the majority of the action.

as you can see, i'm expecting (like every preseason game in the history of the national football league,) that the coaches will have stopped looking at the scoreboard sometime between when potter tees the ball up for opening kick off, and when potter actually makes contact with the ball, sending it into the night, and beginning the game.

and lastly, despite my last expectation, i'm expecting to not enjoy coming to twobillsdrive.com again until the middle of next week, when the reactionary threads about the RESULT of this scrimmage have fallen to the bottom of the page, and there are good discussions about positional battles going on again.

because this is what happens every. single. preseason. scrimmage.

Come back to 2 Bills drive, we understand

Smart man..

I expect to see far more running plays and far less penalties. I dont mind seeing FItz miss a few passes, I can understand that he's working on footwork/mechanics; I just wont tolerate bad decision-making from him.

Yep, Its only preseason, its still a work in progress

I actually think the opposite.

I think Young has a horrible game that all but seals up his fate as one of the first cuts

You could very well be right. I just think he will seal the job in the next 3 weeks, we will see.....

I think Vince will have a good enough game to probably solidify his spot as the backup. Nothing more and nothing less. He will not be the starter unless Fitz is hurt or we are 0-6 to start the season.

I think Vince Young has a shot at the starting job but I'm not betting money on it!

Enough for what, exactly?

Enough to work out ten games last season and this preseason's worth of kinks in the O to give us confidence that they'll hit the ground running, instead of the way that they finished last season, when the regular season begins.

The offense scored almost as many TDs in the first three games of last season as they did in the last 10. Is that good? Hardly.

They have this and next week's preseason games, you know that they won't play the starters more than a series in the fourth game, although if the O is still struggling IMO they should.

It's not like we're the Giants defending a title and need to keep our starters healthy. Health is nothing apart from competent well executed play.

I'd leave the starting unit in until they demonstrate that they can move the ball some and score at least a TD or two. But hey, that's just me, ignorant non-NFL coach talking. What do I know.

Funny how many people here run on assumptions, assumptions that what the coaches and team reps say will happen. Have we learned nothing in a decade of extreme futility?

Enough for his enjoyment. Enough for his evaluation.

Pick one.

Neither. See above.

They have more time than just this week's and next week's games. The bulk of preparation for the regular season takes place in practice, not in preseason games. But I agree that the coaches would like to see more continuity next week when the first team is expected to go into the third quarter.

I couldn't disagree more that keeping our starters healthy isn't as important as it might be to the Giants. Better a busted play than an injury. Especially at ths stage of the preseason.

Depending on what Gailey needs to see and from whom, he may well leave his starters in for a few more plays than expected. But it won't be at the expense of having to prove a point in a meaningless preseason game. We all want to see better execution. Keeping them on the field longer isn't always the way to remedy that though.

I'm expecting the majority of TSW to piss and moan about everything...

Majority? Certainly a very vocal and cynical minority but I'd like to think most of us understand what preseason games are really for.
