Assuming both are healthy and viable IMO front office should sit down with him and agent after last preseason game, say that he is working hard but is not picking up playbook fast enough and they want an incentive-based extension or they will go with backup that already has mastered playbook. If he decides to just stick with one year deal he has signed say good luck and release him.
