zow2 Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I tell you, I liked them both. Potter can clearly blast it out of the end zone and Powell had some nice long punts. I can't help but think these 2 guys will have nice careers for other teams. I hope not but it will be hard to cut Moorman or Lindell. Both those vets still have something left in the tank but you gotta believe their skills are on the decline while the younger guys can only ascend. You are seeing them at their most raw abilities right now. I'd like to see if Potter can hit a couple FG's in preseason. I'm sure they will give him a chance. Lindell missing a 22 yarder last night was a joke right?!?
jimmy10 Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I think you tend to go with the vets when it comes to kickers. More than most other positions, those guys need to have ice in their veins. That said, Potter did look like the real deal. I can see him being kept on as the touchback specialist. Powell, on the other hand, is going to have to be hands-down (feet-down?), no-doubt winner to unseat Moorman.
KD in CA Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Assuming the coaching staff thinks they are the real deal, I'd rather see both young guys take over now given the over 35 status of both Moorman and Lindell.
The Rev.Mattb74 ESQ. Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I dont know about the miss, maybe the snap or holder messed it up. I would think that Lindell might have to be a little worried though. Judging from last night Moorman dropping 3 punts inside the ten he is completely safe.
Pirate Angel Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 once again Moorman was our best starting player last night, hard to believe they dont keep him. Potter has a leg..no questions there. They ought to let him kick the FG's in an entire preseason game so we can all see how far off his accuracy is.
JinWPB Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Potter's kick off were good , but he did line drive/ almost shank the last one out of bounds. Can't see taking up a roster spot and let some good player go. Bruce D.just needs a great special team coverage unit this year. Also, without returns , you also have no chance at starts inside the 20 or turnovers on KO's which do happen.
PromoTheRobot Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I wish they let Potter kick some FGs. I missed Lindell's missed FG, but how does he miss a chip shot like that? Not that it matters but we win 9-7 if he makes it. PTR

JinWPB Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 (edited) RL just plain pooched it sideways . His and Brian's expressions were like'"Did that really just happen." Edited August 10, 2012 by JinWPB

They still would've won 10-9...unless their kicker missed a chip shot too.
